just hooked in the cable. auto does not seem to work. how do i do this? using skycable.

i honestly don't understand why this procedure didn't work for you. that's what i did with my samsung r81 before and it programmed all the channels correctly. you just have to adjust the audio stream to optimize the audio and pricture quality.

He managed to make it work po when he updated the settings from Asia to America.

Sir how do you adjust the audio stream? Did you mean using the equalizer settings po ba?

I also I owned this tv set but honestly ang pangit ng sound talaga nito(maganda pa yun sounds ng Wega at Philips CRT ko).

If i'm using the built-in speaker for cable viewing, if just turned of the SRS thingy and choosed Standard for the Audio. Mas ok at hindi tulog LATA :)

Don't bother to tweak the sound, just use the standard for cable viewing and you'll be fine.
Our sammy's really has a not so good speaker sound.

i honestly can't remember where exactly the settings are but if my memory serves me right, i think it's in the channel set-up menu

I owned a 37R81, yun audio lang naman yun turn off sa kanya and I knew it na din prior to purchasing my unit(during audition pa lang kasi narinig k na di maganda yun audio nya)  BUT its not audio yun concern ko. Its the picture/video quality ang nakaka impressed!, plus pogi points pa yun design nya :)

Anyway, I always used a external speakers when watching movies then for cable viewing naman if you will turn off the 'SRS' and use the 'Standard' setting eh di na masakit sa tenga :)

I agree with Sir Radforce. I recently bought a Sammy R81 myself last Nov. 17. I knew before I bought it that the audio of the R81 is crappy, however, the video resoloution is superb! ;D Everytime I view movies, TV/cable or PS2, I always use my surround external speakers, so the crappy audio of the R81 is not so much as a big deal to me when I purchased it. :P I am very happy and contented with my R81. ;D
