720p / 1080i

I have a question, probably somebody made an experiment on the output of your player.
My first LCD TV (32")which my son is using now have only 1080i capability. Now my question is: Which has better PQ using the 720p output or the 1080i?
I'm not in P.I. so I can't do any comparison, naisip ko lang. Appreciate any reply. TIA
