Been in the states now for the last 6 weeks and will be returning to the Phils in a few days. Have been like a kid in a candy store when looking at LCD's and there picture quality/ price. I had looked primarily at 32 inch to 40 inch units as that is what i will look to buy when in the phillies. In respect to picture quality IMHO the best pictures have been Sony, Panasonic and Samsung . Toshiba was a close fourth but the Pleasant surprise of the many I had seen was LG.
Sony 40- inch XBR (1080P)was the best of the bunch of all the 37-40 inch units IT WAS KILLER PICTURE QUALITY and at a cost of only US dollar 1,500. Had watched the start of the movie transformers on it and I did not want to leave the shop! They had ther sony 37 and 40 inch tvs that were "Bravia" and were much less money but the picture was not as good but priced very competitively.
In respect to the 32 inch (780P)The sony was very nice But the best picture "for me" was the panasonic. The panasonic was priced very close to the Sony at US $ 650. The Panasonic also gave you a very wide viewing angle much better than the rest. Samsung also has a nice picture but for the money the LG was the bargain of the month. At about 500 bux for a 32 inch unit. For a man on a tight budget the LG was very acceptable. I would be happy with them all but the Panasonic was stellar!!
Oh yes....almost forgot to mention. I viewed a few Toshiba units and they were pretty good but was most dissapointed in the sharp Aquos with picture quality. Sharp the "pioneer" of HD and LCD technology has dropped the ball recently.
ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS ON MY US EXPERIENCE ARE WELCOME.
