As long as they go with decent packaging and bring in a limited number, it will sell, especially the Hellboy giftset, which caters to the comics crowd, which are also known collectors. The Wanted giftset, on the other hand, might not be as 'wanted' but based on R1 picture, it is still way better than the Crystal Skull Indy, which looks cheap in the easily creased packaging.
If I were Magna, I will bring in the number of preorders for Wanted giftset plus say 2 for every big branches (ie Trinoma, Podium) but skip those branches here high end DVDs stay on the shelves. That way, you satisfy your most loyal customers (those who are willing to preorder and give down payments, even if there is no incentive), and also get a few sales in the process.
As for those Crystal Indy, it's time to discount them. Sell them for 1,500 with any 1,000 purchase. Or sell them for 1,000 with 2,500 purchase, you hit two birds with one stone.
But as with most DVDs, if you want to bring in those DVD giftsets (Hellboy II, WAnted), you gotta bring them in now, before the 15th. Same with discounting the Crystal Indy. Come January, everyone will not be in a spending mood, what with the economic crisis and the Christmas season burning a hole in everyone's pocket.
And one more thing, if Viva could package their sets so nicely and sell them on the cheap, so could Magna for those mega sets. If only Crystal Indy is packaged as nicely as Prince Caspian, they would have racked up a couple more sales... I would have...
Way off topic, sorry...but hope's Magna is listening...
