::) In spite of most of us being ecstatic about the arrival of our FOTR 2-disc set and our anticipation of the 4/5-disc special edition coming this November, some people don't have the same opinions that we do. Read on this article :

http://slate.msn.com//?id=2069485 ???

Ciao!

i think their problem is they don't do research before buying....  >:( the 4/5 discs set are well advertised with all the features laid-out before the release of the 2-discs.

it's really a matter of choice for us consumer whether we buy the 2-discs set or/and the 4/5-discs set. :D

How's this for luck?

As soon as I read from this thread that local dealers sell the R1 version, I immediately called all accessible stores. Of course, no one confirmed availability.

Last monday, I was at the Glorietta malling, and on a lark, went in to Tower records to check against all hope. All I saw was lots of VCDs and VHS on display. So I asked the cashier if they still had DVDs. She made me wait awhile, then called an assistant to pick out a DVD from the open racks, where I didn't bother to look. Curious, I took a look at the rack as the other guy didn't see the disc. Lo and behold, ONE COPY! I checked if it was R1, and it WAS! Eeyaahoo!

Goddamn if I didn't nearly run towards the cashier to pay. The cashier then said that on the same day they had to tell a lot of other people that they had no more stocks of the disc. They only found out the remaining stock later that evening.

The disc till now is still sealed, and plan to watch it this weekend. I've noticed a cut sticker on top indicating it is a from Korea. Can't wait!

I also saw Lord of The Rings DVD available at Rockwell Powerplant. There's an audio/video shop at the top floor and believe me, there were like more than 20 copies of the DVD displayed on their rack. Hope this helps!

It's really good news that the DVD is available again. Did any of you notice if it is still R1 and the same as the earlier discs sold? Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm kinda embarassed by what just happened.

Just opened the DVD this AM. Guess what? My sealed copy only has ONE disc! Even the disc holder was missing! $#!+ God, I don't know what to say...

Would'nt you know it? From my previous euphoria, I'm now down low. Called Tower Glorietta and informed the about this. Feedback was their stocks havent arrived, but they did get my contact number to inform me when they will. Sabi ko nga kunin niyo na lang sa O at the Power plant.  Well, if they don't have anything by tommorrow I'm gonna ask my money back and buy elsewhere!

So for prospective buyers: CAVEAT EMPTOR. When you buy open the thing immediately to make sure, or just feel if the thing has two discs.

BTW, a tip: was at Galleria tonight, Odysset has loads of the discs. Nearly all had VRB stickers, and promo stickers indicating they were for New Zealand market. Check em out ( but leave a copy for me, eh?)

In that regard, I notice that:
1) There were two white security stickers over the lids. My Tower Records $#!+ copy white sticker had been peeled off ( where I saw the "Korea" text) and looks like only one sticker was present.

2) They were noticeably heavier than from what I got.

Good luck, guys!

But tommorrow, if I don't get satisfaction from Tower, there's gonna be a lot of Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki coming from me!

Couldn't you return it and get a new one? After all, it was the salesman's fault. He promised you multi-region but only gave an r3 player.

Or maybe the sales person sincerely thought that it was multi-region or modified because other people who bought from that store probably got modified dvd players. But nevertheless, since he did say that the player is multi-region and it's not....they should replace your unit with what they said in the first place to be...or at least...modify it free of charge.  ;D

Just be sure to bring the receipt when you make a claim.  ::)

FYI

I'm not even sure if you guys still want to know another place where LOTR:FOTR DVD is available....Anyway, I just happened to browse this new record and video store at the uppermost floor of Podium. It's a very big store....I forgot the name....you won't miss it since Podium is pretty small mall anyway.  There are about a dozen copies still left. Yes....it's still R1. Yes, it has the stickers and the protections and the whatever else you're looking for. That is...if until now...you still don't have your copy.

Nevertheless...this is just an FYI.

P.S. Yes it's P1,200.

Ciao.

As I promised to my contact who sent me the script, I will NOT be quoting script word for word, I will be giving you the details on what's new and how it fits into the grand scheme of things.

I'll also be posting about a dozen images from various extended DVD scenes (mainly screenshots from the extended DVD preview on the 'regular' DVD). So here we go....leave now if you don't want your November day spoiled by TORN..
