Ronin,

An unsolicited advice, do check w/ Hometheater or w/ Hyperaudio if you are interested with the Marantz AVR.

They can give you the best deal on these receivers.

Thanks.

I think its normal, when i auditioned the Marantz 5300 using mission speakers, i crank the volume to -15 di pa rin masyadong malakas.

Kahit naman ibang AVR's parang ganyan din, when im using denon i usually listen to -5db to -10db, NAD -2db to -8db, Harman -20db to -25db. Pero malakas na yang volume na yan

skaybol,

I have a Marantz 4300 and Mission Speakers. My reference level is - 20Db. Some DVDs already sound great at this setting and for some DVDs I have to go to -15 or 12Db to get the desired audio output.

The 4300 manual states that the max. volume is +18 Db so I have more room to crank up the volume (w/c I'm afraid to try).

Check the manual of the 5200 and see what is the max volume for your model.

I think you can still crank up the voule more in your case and it is normal as long as you do not hear any distortion.

Thanks

bullet,
Sounds like normal naman pala yung marantz ko. I think the max for the SR5200 is +15db pero like you i have never tried cranking it that loud. I'm afraid i'll break something...either the equipment or my eardrums..hehehe.
thanks,

skaybol,

yes your gear i think is normal. Just go w/ the setting that really suits your preference. Kasi if it's too loud hindi na music yu eh, noise na para sa kin.

Just continue enjoying your set up in music & in movies.

Way to go Marantz.................

Di talaga gagana yan, unless 6.1 encoded ang disc. Iselect mo yung DSP to Matrix, then hear kung may sound na lalabas.

Technically 80 watts per channel @ 8 ohms ang Marantz 4300, pero kung ipapares mo ay 6 ohms, its 95 watts per channel.

Sir Philander,

Ang 6.1 ay disc driven? Meaning it depends on what disc you use? Meron bang mga P-disc na 6.1?? hehe  ::)

Neways, what if i don't buy muna a surround center, will it work?  ;D

Oh and 80w/ch x 6 is that good enough?  :)

Thanks and sorry for my ignorance  ;D ;D

Satiesfied, lalo sa sa musical. Consider also the speakers you are going to pair.

Lacking:
Marami like OSD, Component Video Switching, HDCD decoder, 192khz/24-bit DAC, speaker A+B function for multiroom, the remote does not control other components.

But for its price, its the best receiver.

Yes, hanap ka ng DTS-ES or DD-EX encoded disc

Yes, you can matrix the surround center.

Wala pa hehehehheheh.

Yes, even less than 50 watts (x6) pairing with 95db above speakers at full volume might damage your ears.

Yes, you can Matrix the sound.

Kasi, oxymoron "daw" yung DD-EX:

Marantz SR4300 is a great AVR at its price. Actually you get more than what you paid for.

It's enough to power a small to mid size room. If you really like something that really rocks in both HT and music, try the 6300...

Anyone using SR7300? Ano gamit nyo speakers. Gamit ko is (all KEF) Q1, Q9c and crest2. I wanted to kmow kasi my unit goes into 'protect mode' every now then when there is sudden bust of sound in the movies or music i am playing.

Has anyone experience this with your Marantz receiver models?

Thanks

sir bullet,
may i ask kung anu-anong mission speakers ang ginagamit mo for your sr4300? i've heard marantz-mission combo is impressive and i dream to have one  ;D

Ronin,

I have the following Mission speakers connected to my Marantz 4300

Fronts       : M73i
Center      : M7C2
Surrounds : M71
SubW        : Custom made w/ PP driver

Man, even this Marantz is a budget receiver, it can do wonders to the Missions specially after burning the speakers for 50 hours of music.

My set up is located with a lot of open space since the planned second floor of my house is not yet done. In HT it is great since the sound really envelopes you. BTW, speaker placement  in my opinion is critical. While Iwas setting up the speakers, I have requested a cousin to move the speakers an inch at a time while I am positioned to the listening position.

If you are planning to get a Marantz - Mission Combo, try to listen to a 6300 paired with the M74i and tell us what is your opinion. This combination is like  operation "shock & awe" (given the comparative cost with regards to other receiver-speaker combination)

Just my two cents.... I'm not an A/V guru and just speaking from experience.

What does S-DIRECT do?

S-Direct is a Source-Direct.

It by-passes all tone control in the receiver's section, meaning you can't control bass, tremble and even bass-managment.

Source Direct mode bypasses, tone controls and bass management for purest audio quality.

So lahat ng sound output will depend on the source.
