Guys, I have some tip in getting the 5-disc set.  Just ordered my copy at Amazon.ca (Canada). Price of the Collector's Boxed Set CDN$ 79.99 + Shipping (Expedited) CDN$ 13.98 = CDN$ 93.97 less CDN$ 10 (Gift Certificate found in one of Pinoydvd's thread - thanks!).

Grand Total of CDN$ 83.97 or USD$ 53.6755 or  2,831.38 PHP!

batutoy3:16 would you know how much customs taxes your shipment will incur when it comes in here?  Have you had anything shipped before from this Amazon location here?

Hope everything comes out well considering customs may open it and they could handle it roughly and damage some items.

Hi dulber! This is the first time I transacted w/ Amazon Canada though I've ordered before from Amazon.com and so far I've encountered no problems.

W/ regards to the delivery, the post office just sends me a notice to pick up the package and when I do, sometimes I pay P20 and sometimes none at all. I also noticed that the package is unopened. Hopefully this time, it remains untampered :)

Hi Rnold! Yes, I always use expedited shipping.  Pickup is near our residence at the Antipolo Post Office. Have you tried same shipping option? what post office do you pck it up from?

Hey, it's coming in today!  Yipee....  P3,201 nga lang ang customs tax ko... (hu hu hu).... so total damage for LOTR Gift set, Star Wars Episode II, Beauty and the Beast, and a Psych book for my sister came to $113.49 + $49.45 shipping + P3,201 customs tax...   haay... oh, well, splurge a little once in a while is a good thing I guess.

This is all from Amazon US btw.  All I need now is to get home and get to open it.  (before my sisters do)

I just checked your computation (exept for the Psych book) and compared it the prices of the local PinoyDVD member sellers and it seems na mas makamura ka pa had you sourced all your DVD here, hassle free pa sana.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make you feel bad about your order but I'm just sharing with you something I also realized before with online shopping like with Amazon.

Aside from the lengthy shipping time, the tax is the big "aray" sa pocket.  For items/title that are so attractive to Customs people like the ones you ordered eh swerte ka pa nga at ganon lang ang taxes mo.

Plus, there is that possible damage to the merchandise na kung ire-return mo eh isa pang sakit ng ulo.  If the online store is willing to replace it for free and shoulder the shipping costs here goes the Customs taxes again.

After my bad experiences, I opted to get my DVD from local sellers especially kung unti-unti lang ang bili para hindi aray sa bulsa.

The psych book was an Amazon only thing for me... and yes I know I'll be spending a lot if I go through amazon...

And the shipping was as stated 2 days....  I confirmed it, it's already at home now... whoo hoo!

OK then, enjoy your DVDs.  Just consider sourcing your DVDs locally as an option and make a cost-benfit analysis - suggestion lang naman.

Grabe, ang dami mong papanoorin.  Have you decided na the order in which you will be watching them.  Ang hirap siguro ano.  Buti na lang palapit na ang weekend so you have more time to watch and enjoy them all.

Did the same though I just used standard shipping so it came to CDN$ 75.47.  Charged it to my Citibank card and the conversion came out to around P2,616+.  Not bad  ;D.

I pre-ordered and it shipped out November 12 but I had it sent to the US since my cousin will be going home before christmas.  I also ordered BoB and sent it there as well ;)

As for shipping I dont know how long it'll take to reach here but to give you an idea the BoB shipped on November 5 and it got delivered in the US on the 12th using expedited international shipping.

Anyway I can't wait for my cousin to arrive and watch all the DVDs I sent there  ;D

Hope yours arrives in a short time, let me know as well when you get it

Guys question lang.

Not all but there are some.  There are really some DVDs that are cheaper in
Canada than in the US, you really just have to compare.  Plus there are coupon codes that you can use to get a CDN$ 10 discount  ;D

Its CDN$ divided by roughly 1.5 to get you an estimate in US$

Since I use a Citibank credit card, I roughly converted my US purchases by P55- US$1 to get the peso equivalent and my Canadian purchases by P36-CDN$1.

The exchange rate I use is on the high side (my reasoning is that if its still looks attractive after the conversion then I'll buy it)

My last US purchase, Citibank's exchange rate for VISA was P54.6-US$1 and for Canadian purchases, I got the rate of P34.67-CDN$1.

Hope this helps.

PS

Bently sent me this link as well

I think most Box set DVD's are cheaper in amazon.ca... I bought my BoB and "24" Box sets on amazon.ca, on the other hand, I bought my Lord of the Rings DVD set on amazon.com... shipped them all to my aunt, who's coming over soon... so tipid shipping and tax  :)
