mga brod, is it true na may problem din sa coding tong LOTR-TTT special extended edition?  :o :o :o sana wala naman, my copy is arriving this week or early next week... many thanks...  :)

Katatapos lang namin kagabi ng 4th disc ng Extended Edition.  Okay naman lahat ng discs -- we did not encounter any problem while viewing the movie and appendices.

Enjoy your copy and hope na walang problema sa set mo!

At last I was able to finish viewing all 4 discs of the Extended Edition. I encountered no problems at all. Really enjoyed the added footage especially the Denethor/Faramir/Boromir flashback.

ROTK DVD - 5+ hrs?
« Reply #698 on: Dec 17, 2003 at 11:33 AM »
a rumor from dvdtown.com

Peter Jackson recently attended his last premiere for the last chapter in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Last stop was Copenhagen the capitol of Denmark. There he gave a very interesting interview to a Danish newspaper. He told that the first cut of Return of the King had a running time of four hours and fifty minutes. When asked why this was too long for the theaters but fit for DVD he answered.

"It is different with the DVD version. People watch it at home. They can lay on the couch or spread the experience over two-three nights. That is the amazing thing with DVD. It gives a whole new dynamic and I can assure you that the DVD version of Return of the King will be longer than 4 hours and 50 min." -- Note that this was translated into Danish by the newspaper and then back to English by us.

I got free tickets to the 2:30pm screening tomorrow at Megamall. The tickets say our screening contains an additional 30+ minutes of battle footage exclusive to the preview and will not be included in the regular theatrical release.

I wonder if this is true (anyone care to confirm?) and if so then this will be a great preview of the ROTK eXtended Edition DVD due in late 2004!

pre, take note of the running time of your screening and post it here.

so come january, if indeed there are 30 extra minutes, we who won't be able to watch the advance screenings will lament our fates even more.

hehehe.  ;D

Yes, some or all the advanced screenings here in the Philippines will have additional battle footage. (The ticket will indicate if the screening is the extended version.) Got myself a couple of tickets to this Saturday's extended screening. *excited*  ;D

i think this also happened sa two towers. some say na the advance screenings had some scenes which were not in the regular screening.

are the screenings in the states then all extended or all regular, since di naman uso advance screening dun?

what about the DVD theatrical version? is that the extended regular version or the cut-short version? (for sure, the extended ed DVDs aren't the extended screening cuts)

in effect, 3 cuts ng TTT and ROTK were/are going to be released, across all formats?

hmmmmm.  ???

well. pa post nlang ng runtimes. hehehe. :)

Oh, I didn't know that about TTT. Sayang, the TTT premiere I attended wasn't the extended cut. Anyway, I doubt 3 cuts of TTT and ROTK are going to be released on video. There are only 2 cuts of TTT out now (theatrical and extended), even if TTT did indeed have an extended advanced screening.

Don't quote me on this, though.  :)

the scenes that i found disturbing in the movie is with the hobbits. first when gandalf got mad at pippin for staring into the palantir...and had him separated from his "good" friend merry. notice the dialogue when they spoke when they were about to depart.

second, is when pippin sees merry almost unconcious in the fields of pellenor after the battle...they were about to kiss each other!

third, a scene near the end of the movie. frodo rescued from the lava pits of mount doom and waking up to see merry and pippin nect to him. then all of a sudden...sam walks in and was staring at frodo for quite some time.

then someone in the movie house suddenly shouted....KISS! KISS! the audience burst into laughter and it was laugh trip all over.

ooops...i think i've strayed away from the topic now. anyone know where i can get a TTT gift set dvd with the gollum figure? i need this badly, am giving it as a present this christmas to my wifey?

thanks a ton :)

Yes, there was too strong a hobbit/hobbit vibe. Pippin and Faramir had a moment as well...

It seemed like there were gaps in the movie, such as when we leave the hobbits and Eowyn and her father on the battle, and then they're suddenly present in the end, at Aragorn's coronation. Can't wait for the EE DVD.  ;D For now, I must finish reading the books.  ;D

By the way, try the DVD Marketplace if you're looking for the giftset.

Hi,
I bought an R1 copy of the extended version of TTT. I saw the movie and it was great! However, my dvd had a problem playing the disc 3 and 4. Actually my dvd could not play it. Anyone know what could be wrong with it? Is it my dvd player or is there something wrong with the discs themselves. Pareho disc 3 and 4 ayaw mag play eh.

salamat.

Just want to react to your observation.  I keep on hearing and reading about those supposed "homoerotic" undertones in LOTR kahit sa TTT there are moments like that specially with Legolas and Aragorn (those hands are hard to miss).  I know its hard to accept that, but sometimes it seems that way. LOL

What the hell are those undertones for.  Hmmm... Pater Jackson should explain!

     Sorry for going OT.
