Just want to react to your observation.  I keep on hearing and reading about those supposed "homoerotic" undertones in LOTR kahit sa TTT there are moments like that specially with Legolas and Aragorn (those hands are hard to miss).  I know its hard to accept that, but sometimes it seems that way. LOL

What the hell are those undertones for.  Hmmm... Pater Jackson should explain!

     Sorry for going OT.

 ;D

That is why LOTR trilogy is my favourite-- sobra sobra sa male bonding. Haaay sana ako si Sam para makasama ko palagi si Frodo!

strong friendship and even you think you're so small in this big big world you can make a difference... i think that was tolkien's message when he wrote this trilogy.. you can trace the soldier in him..  8)

btw,any news on the release date of rotk dvd?

Hi,
I bought an R1 copy of the extended version of TTT. I saw the movie and it was great! However, my dvd had a problem playing the disc 3 and 4. Actually my dvd could not play it. Anyone know what could be wrong with it? Is it my dvd player or is there something wrong with the discs themselves. Pareho disc 3 and 4 ayaw mag play eh.

salamat.
skabyol

My TTT EE copy plays fine. It could be your player. Try cleaning it w/ a dvd lens cleaner.
SARS!!!

Hello guys....  for those people na medyo tumataas ang balahibo sa " male bonding" ng mga hobbits eh I think Pete Jackson was just trying to express what JRR Tolkien wrote.  Kung mababasa nyo sa libro ni Tolkien, eh ganun talaga ang mga scenes, especially with Sam and Frodo when they got to Mount Doom and when Sam first knew that Frodo was still alive....  Ganun lang siguro ang mga hobbits....hehehehe... ;D

here's my input on RoTK Theatrical:

I saw this movie for FREE nung December 17 sa Galleria. All you had to be was a GenTxt member, and you get a free pass (and Nonstop Black Icecream!)... As somebody who have read the books, the surprises were defintely not there anymore.

*************Start Spoiler:********************

My complaints:

The Hobbits did not get enough development, in my opinion. People still considered Merry and Pippen to be like Jar Jar Binks. Everytime they appear on screen people laughed. They even laughed when Pippen was swearing fealty to The Steward of Gondor (Denethor). WTF... What Pippen is doing is a Noble thing.

What was shown about Sam is NOTHING compared to the true hero that Sam is.

Mouth of Sauron got cut
Gandalf vs Witch King wasn't there.
Aragorn and Arwen did not wed. (Which makes those boring Arwen sequences from 1st two movies totally POINTLESS).

************End Spoiler:**************

Lots of minor quirks. Nonetheless, this still is a great movie. More than enough to make me forget how much I hate Galleria's speaker setup is (the fronts are ceiling mounted. and worse, they're so boxy that they distract you away from the screen). Peter Jackson has done a fantastic job with Tolkien's Book (lotr's supposed to be just 1 big book and not divided into 3)... The last moments of the Ring is almost the way i imagined it to be. This really is a movie that you cannot miss. It is an experience.

kaya may extended dvd edtition for all of the 3 movies..for real "fans" to further appriciate the movie..8)some people just watch it,they never really understand..

i really loved the scene when aragorn and all others bowed for the hobbits, with the "there and back again theme" totally blows me away.. plus the "for frodo" scene..the score and the scenes were magic! although wala sa soundtrack ung cue na yun,its the fellowship theme, with full choir in the background...really cant wait for the dvd. ;D ;D ;D

LoTR:TTT: SEE Disc 3 and 4 impression.

After getting my copy nung Christmas Day, (Dad finally flew back home from Vancouver)... I actually had my copy since the day it came out. pero it was a matter of 'when is my dad flying back?"

anyhoo

these past 2 days, pinapanood ko yung disc 3 and 4...

Parts i loved:

The Filming of Helm's Deep

The Creation of Gollum

Andy Serkis was originally supposed to just supply the voice. Until he showed everybody that Gollum cannot exist with out him.

It was agreed that the best way to animate Gollum was to use both Motion Caption and Computer Animation.

Howard Shore's Muscial scoring

Alan Lee's stories about armor and weapon designs.

How he actually brought a set of armor and swords to New Zealand... Or how they used to do sword fights in the parking lot...

Creation of Fangorn Forrest.
The forrest is made inside the studio.

Edoras:
The Golden Hall, the needle thatched houses... Took 3 months to build. 3 weeks to shoot, and they had to take the houses down afterwards.

Treebeard Animatronics. I originally thought that he was CGI.

As usual, Richard Taylor speaks like he's reciting his lines. But the elvish weapons and armors are so damned elegant. (Eventhough, the elves are not supposed to be in Helm's deep!)

He talks about Eomer and King Theoden's sword. Theoden's armour is actualy inscribed with little inscribed artwork that tells stories about Rohan History...

Philippa Boyens/Fran Walsh/ PJ/ Famamir's actor talked about the change of Faramir's character in this movie.

I still don't buy it, but i just accepted it because there is nothing you can do to make them change Faramir's character...

2003 MTV awards Gollum Acceptance Speech.

It was ROFLMAO funny is all I can say.

Overall all, this is just as good as last fotr's special features..

will be back with the TTT: Extended Cut review soon!
I just need to be able to find 4 free hours so i can finally watch it!!!

Yeah. I'm glad that PJ did not take the most important parts of the ending out- Frodo finish writing Bilbo's book. and the Gray Havens... Though Bilbo scared the $hit out of me. I know Bilbo has grown old. but i did not expect him to be that old. Would also be nice if they mention na Bilbo now owns the record for being the oldest Hobbit of all time.

More on the Breaking of the Fellowship would be nice rin. Or Sam inheritting bag End. Pero I did not expect Sam to get much screen time at the end. And I am pleasantly surprised.

Oh the best part... I think PJ captured the emotion of the Gray Havens from the book almost perfectly. to that i give him Kudos..

Yeah... umm i only found out about it from my Friend rin. It was only advertised on a website (dunno what url, even).. 1st 400 people who shows up get a movie pass.

i was 316 of 400!! 316 used to be a cool number for me. Cause of Stone Cold Steve Austin... Actually, i showed up with a friend's card muna eh. Tapos i found out na they were checking the names sa card. and asking an ID from you..

i said, "I will not f'in drive back to a heavy traffick'ed Edsa"... biglang na isip ko na why not register for GenTxt while in line?? hahahaha... So i got my passes and was all happy.

My friends were ahead of me... and naka psok na. and reserved me good seats... YEAH!!

Hella better than paying 350 to 500 bucks to watch it in Megamall, imo!

i haven't read the books but i did play the ROTK game for the PS2. unfortunately, the game kinda spoiled some parts of the film for me.  :P

the game spoiled squat about the movie. Well there are some spoilers.. like characters introduced. pero... you still have atleast 90% of the movie remain fresh.

I didn't like it much. I would of liked it more if PJ properly developed the hobbits.

And would of liked it more if Frodo and Sam came up to Aragorn in the Orc armour- the last thing they were wearing before the ring get destroyed.

i agree.

i mean directing 3 films at a time plus the extended editions to boot. that has to amount to something.  :)

well i can only think of 2 places..

1st was Minas Tirith... as the camera goes around the streets, it was almost exactly as i imagined it to be. And i felt goosebumps there.

2nd was Grey Havens. PJ almost captured the sadness i felt the first time I read it..

other places, i was sort of cursing... cause of the PJ changes...

I hated the Dead Army (not the visuals, though)... i hated the fact that their ship was just stolen from Orcs. I so wanted to see "The Ship of The Dead." And the moment the Dead army stepped off the ship, it felt like yung Army ng Scorpion King from Mummy Returns.

Anyway... i just finished watching the SEE of TTT... will post my impression soon!!! here's a preview... i turned off my dvd player all smiling and happy!

TTT: SEE Quick Review..

Sort of Cool parts:

Boromir Reclaiming Gondor flashback-

Again, some drastic character changes from the book. Otherwise it was cool. Especially to hear the Gondor theme again. Truly reminded me of RoTK.

Box of Seasoning that fell from Sam's pocket

I first thought na, "what the.. so he had that box from Galadriel all along, why didn't he use it sa RoTK?" tapos later it was revealed na it only contains Salt. Disappointment, indeed.

The extra long ending:

I especially loved the scene where Merry and Pippen finds Saruman's "Stash"...

Aragorn's Ring.

Mention of Aragorn's Age.

This movie is like 3h and 45 mins long.. pero... i never felt bored at all. Maybe the part where Elrond is telling Arwen to leave middle earth.. pero... otherwise.. hinde eh. Compared sa FoTR: SEE, i got bored to atleast 4 parts there..

my score: ****/ **** truly recommended to fans of the movie...

well, the undead army in the movie was waay better than the one in the game.  :) but you're right. they could've been better.

i think they should've shown more close up fighting of the undead army. sana meron sa extended edition.  :)
