KT-88 for P12k wow! is this the AMX push-pull amp that uses 4 x KT88 and 2 x 6SN7, 2 x 6SL7 tube? The last time I visit kasi their selling it for P28K.

Any recommended floorstander speaker of KT88 push-pull and 300B amp.

the available KT-88 amp, i believe, is single-ended. i am not sure if in pentode or triode mode... nabili na ata 'yung push pull amp...

re speakers, i have not heard it with other speakers yet other than the DIY Corral-driven speakers they have in the shop. pero, siguro, any speakers with relatively high sensitivity will do.

the best thing to do, in my opinion, is to audition the amp with your speakers.

i have not had the opportunity to listen to a Scott or to an ST70 yet so i would not really know. i have compared my AMX with my Euphony push pull amp, though, before when i still have the latter.

what i can say is, considering the type of music that i usually play, i like the way my AMX sounded than my push pull amp. but that just me, of course...

...had an opportunity to audition this evening AMX's tube amp line...very impressive...guess who brought his speakers para ma-try lahat nung mga amp - GEKO...was able to meet SYMON also...

actually, napadaan lang naman ako...came from upscale...nag-stay tuloy ako ng 2-oras for a listening session...was particularly impressed with the 300B...the 6550s were also impressive (especially for the price, it's highly recommended for newbies in tube amp)...

hey geko...i have the perfect prescription for you...i found this very effective (thanks to m_shoe_maker)...before you sleep tonight, try to recite this about 1,000-times - 300B, 300B, 300B, 300B, 300B...until makatulog ka sa pagod...do it everyday (it's more effective if you also do it before your afternoon siesta time)...remember - 300B!!!

...the owner of phasetron might (crossing my fingers) allow me to bring the 300B amp home to audition it...yahoo!

we were able to audition another variant of the 300B last night. i must say that i was really impressed! it has the usual lambing of 300B plus the dynamics of good SS amps.

hanep sa bass... it really made the Corral DIY speaker sing!!! it made my RB3 bloom also. lumabas ang bass!!! medyo sibilant ng konti ang vocals, though. most prorabably because it is still very new. kakadeliver lang 'ata ng saturday...

as for the 6550, this is the amp to check out if you do not wish yet to plunk serious money. we tested this amp with my RB3 as well. ang ganda rin ng tunog... lumabas lalo 'yung mga detalye!

hayyy... sana dumating na si Santa Claus...

hi! has anybody auditioned the 12k AMX tube preamp? how does it compare to the BOM tube preamp in AudioTech Raon? I think the BOM doesn't have a phono stage so its cheaper (8k). Can't see the tubes used coz they both have a closed chasis and the tubes are inside.

the 12k preamp uses a torroidal trannie and has a buffer input ala x-10d, haven't tried it but you can always bring your amp there and try it out

thanks! that's very useful info.. i actually spent a little bit more on a MF x10-d + x-psu, but then that may be comparing apples to oranges. the MF adds body to my pioneer dvd player, and im a bit reluctant to move it to my inexpensive audio setup. now i can keep the MF where it is now, and have the option for a pure audio preamp.. thank you thank you.

fyi lang...

i dropped by phasetron yesterday & saw a 100wpc EL34-based push pull amp. it was driving (with ease) the celestion speakers (86db sensitivity) when i walked in. i would say that i didn't expect those speakers to sound beautifully... matching lang talaga siguro ng amp.

the amp has 8 el34 tubes & 4 smaller tubes if i am not mistaken. hindi ko binusisi (dahil ayokong ma-SARS

) kaya di ko sigurado kung ano 'yung 'yung smaller tubes... i believe it is selling for PhP 28K.
