sir v0elker, ala pa ako st-70 (next project ko yun, ahehehehe). am still setting my budget for everything,eh para pwede magtube rolling kung sakali. kaya i was asking the el34s'. actually, my scott is using el84, mas mahal siya sa el34. was able to see hypers thread at wiredstate. telefunken el84s cost around 3k per piece and i'll be needing 4 of them $:-\$ . sylvania costs at 1.5k per piece naman.

yes, it's true for el34s' russian svets are a very good and cheaper alternative (mga 1.2k to 1.5k per piece). mullards are a bit pricey but performance and durability is much better.

try sir rene or you can also try andrew sevilla of phasetron. i think they both have svets el-34 on hand. for mullards, i do believe that sir rene has these on hand but these are a bit pricey since they are NOS.

mullard el34 are considered one of the best sounding el34 tubes of all time.

they are pricey, anywhere from $75-200 a piece depending on condition.

the svetlana's are very good new production tubes. they sound very close to the mullards but not as refined, and they cost only a fraction of the mullards...

went there last sat:

gone -- tube preamp and KT88 SE

new -- 300B SE with the black face plate

hooked up was the 2A3 SE with the chromed faceplate... i wasn't familiar with the CD being played so its hard to compare with the KT88 PP but it did sound very nice.

i got to hear this amp last saturday & i could say that it is is one good sounding amp. balanseng-balanse...

it has foot tapping dynamics, punchy bass, & knee-weakening luscious mids...

it was originally installed with 6L6 driver tubes (complemented by, if I am not mistaken, 6SL7 tubes) giving it a bluesy sound. for curiosity's sake, andrew replaced them with EL-34 tubes which made the amp more dynamic.

fyi, as per andrew, prototype pa lang po 'to & still being improved!

mga sir, sa mga nakikita ko sa mga pics ng tube amps, ang daming mga tubes. lahat ba ito pinapalitan more or less every year? especially yung kt88? how much ba ng tubes nito?. naiisip ko kasi kung average 6 hours per day ko gagamitin ito for music lang naman sa average lifespan ng tubes lumalabas na less than 2 years lang mag papalit na ako ulit ng tubes??? medyo dpat ko din yatang i consider ng price ng tube pag ganon. kasi baka di ko kaya pag mahal. thanks.

i think these should be the least of your worries lance as there are new production tubes out in the market these days that are priced cheaper from their NOS counterparts and yet can even sound as close as NOS tubes. there are really pros and cons in venturing into this hobby, ika nga nila magastos, ahehehehehe. one does not really have to change all tubes at once every year or even a couple more.

2a3 SE is 16.5k but last price is 15k cash. 300b is priced at 30k while the pushpull 2a3 is 25k ata. did not audition any as i didnt have time last saturday. The external design of every amp is really impressive.

Almost same price pala yung 2a3 SE with the upcoming WS integrated amp.

Can it drive a Mission M73?

my tb2a3 (2wpc) can drive m73i at a moderate level. i saw a pair of mission m73i in phasetron before. if the speakers are still there, audition them and find out if
AMX 2a3 SE can drive them.

wait too for the WS integrated amp. it is coming ASAP. the WS team may allow a home audition of that amp. if thats the case, youll have a chance to listen to it with your speakers.
