Season 3 just started ....... after seeing Episode 1, I have to say that it's very obvious that the writers will make-up for last season's lack of action.

Great episode to kickoff Season 3!

OT: Maggie is looking hotter by the minute ...... dirty or clean.

Yup, it was an excellent start for the season--brutal and bloody...that scene with Rick amputating Hershel's lower leg was truly gruesome.

And the TV series' deviation from the comicbooks continues. In the comics, it was Dale (who was still alive to live through the prison saga) who lost his leg, not Herschel, kinda like how it was non-comicbook character Merle Dixon who got his hand cut off at the start of the series, and whose reappearance this season leads me to believe that Rick Grimes won't be losing his in turn, contrary to what his comicbook counterpart suffered at the hands (no pun intended) of the sadistic Governor.

Yup ...... having two hand-amputees in Merle & Rick would almost be comical - so it's very likely that Rick wont turn into a one-armed bandit this season.

I just knew that forced amputation (like Dale in the comics endured) would be a scenario in the TV series ...... just didn't think it would happen this early in the new season.

Can't wait for episode 2 ...... looking forward to see the new dynamics with the prisoners.

Chopping heads off seem to be the theme in Season 3 especially with Michonne in the story

I am excited to see how the Governor storyline will play out

this is why i don't read spoilers hehe...

i thought the opening scene was brilliant. they went in, w/o talking to one another, and when the walkers come closing in, they just left.

that was a surprise move by rick on herschel.

Rick understand the nature of the infection the most and he knew the bite/infection/rabies would ultimately kill Herschel. It's consistent with the comicbook if only in that aspect

in a word, grinding. the divide between rick and lori is so palpable and obviously runs much deeper. sabagay, sino ba naman ang di lalayo sa ginawa ni lori, and the lingering doubt whether si rick nga ang tatay.

Actually, I kinda got the impression from his conversation with Lori last season that Rick no longer cared whether the baby was his or Shane's, just that he would love the child as his own no matter what.

I agree. The issue with the baby is that the are both worried about how they will raise it in a world that they have.

Rick & Lori's rift was caused by Lori's reaction to Rick killing Shane, including the fact that Carl also pulled the trigger when Shane turned into a walker. Rick's defense was that Shane planned to kill him, so Lori's reaction was unacceptable.

Only one stream of thought went through my mind about Lori after she went all drama queen on Rick after his confession about Shane's death:

Please die. Please die. Please die. Please die. Please die.

The TV series' Lori is only slightly less annoying than her comicbook counterpart, but annoying just the same that I want the biatch dead the soonest time possible

Yet more thrills and actions for Episode 2 ...... what Rick said during last season's finale was true, "This is no longer a democracy."

Shades of Shane's survivalist streak can be seen on Rick now ...... well the zombie-apocalypse can do that to a guy.
