I was at SM Makati last Saturday (Dec. 15) and almost tempted to buy one unit but decided to get from another appliance center where my friend's store manager was there. I was surprised that their big chain of stores was not carrying Sanyo LED/LCD TVs. Reason according to manager, Sanyo is now integrated with Panasonic and Haier and that Sanyo TVs will be handled by Haier at mukhang nalugi na ata ang Sanyo. Sabi ni manager mahirap daw yan baka magka problem sa future warranty claims so hindi na muna ulit ako bumili at wait mode na lang for 2 units of 42-46 inch LED TVs. Not in a hurry anyway since part lang ang future purchase ko po for upgrade to my existing HTPC set ups. The Sanyo LED and LCD TVs on sale are EXCLUSIVE to SM only according to the Sanyo staff of SM Makati at may mga bumibili nga.

seems accurate information...

should the red flag be up with these "very affordable" big screens?

Maganda po ang external looks ng Sanyo LE42K700 at yong INPUT/OUTPUT complete parang Sony unlike ng LG ( 42LS5700 was one of my choices sana) na walang analog audio output. Will wait  for reasonably priced 46 incher LED TVs na lang me.

I was able to purchase the last unit (or so they say) of Sanyo's LE42K700 from SM Calamba a week ago. Was initially contemplating on a MyView 40" Smart TV or a Samsung 32" E5000.

I would say it's a steal @ P19995 for a 42" full LED, full HD TV. It has a scratchproof bezel and screen, 2 HDMI inputs, A/V in/out, component, optical and VGA connections, USB port. TV tuner is good, all channels are clear connected via a Baron antenna. ;)

The only drawback I guess is that it can only play AVI/DivX movies via USB. Took a leap of faith and got an extended warranty as well (1 + 2yrs) for an additional P2K to be sure.

the tosh 32-inch 32pu200 is now only 13.9k which I consider a great value at this time.  So if a 40-incher tosh is only 16k, I'd go for it.

If i recall right, 32" HDTVs in 2005 was 60T for the cheapest.  It was down to 30T in 2008, and 15T in 2012. It looks like every 3-4 years, prices are getting halved.  So by 2016, a 32 incher could be just 7T.  That would be the right price for most low income groups to save up for just in time for the NTC mandate for TV broadcast to go totally digital by Dec 31, 2015 and render all CRT TVs useless.   ;D

When you say digital TV, you need a subscription for it right? So yung mga naka aerial antenna who gets local channels for free will not be able to watch TV anymore.  Kaya yung ayaw magbayad ng monthly subscription magtatap nalang.  Kaya ba yun?

Thanks sir av_phile1 for the reply. Apparently some people were of the same mind. The toshiba was no longer there the last time I look. But I'm really glad even this far away from Metro Manila, we can still find very good deals for tv's. This same store in Baguio was where I also bought my panasonic c10 for 34k when our resident sellers here in PDVD were selling the same unit for some 39k pesos.

Maybe they'll spring a surprise once again and suddenly bring in the pana st50 this year.

Digital TV content can also be broadcasted by air as DTT (digital terrestrial television) using an antenna, no need for cable subscription.

With a stable economy and politics, I would not be surprised if those 42 inchers would go down to 15T or below before Christmas of 2013.

This is what I am banking on.

I was supposed to upgrade last month but I decided to wait a few months more as I am waiting for the LED TVs prices to go down a bit more.
