Hi. Sorry I wasn't able to update my post regarding Mede8er's issue with my LG 37LD460 HDTV. An upgrade to v4 Beta solved the signal handshake problem I have been encountering in the past. Although the v4 Beta is far from being prefect, I am not complaining. I have been monitoring the Mede8er forum and in fact shared some of my thoughts and observations and even suggested some improvements on the latest beta firmware hoping it will be recognized by the developers. There are lists of bugs in that forum and I suggest you guys check it out as well so the testers and developers can improve it and make our experience with our beloved Mede8er all the more enjoyable.

Hello guys, i just got a med8er, today i finished downloading an inception torrent, it played ok in the laptop vlc player, but when i played it sa med8er, sound lang lumalabas, what could be wrong with this? ung lahat naman ng ibang files na nasa med8er hard drive ok naman

Is there anything wrong with the downloaded file or med8er? Please advice, ty

Hi Doc Sandy, welcome to the club

re your problem, it could be a header compression problem... i also encountered that on some of my files, you can solve that by using MKVToolnix, remux them to a lower version of mkvtoolnix

Try to visit Mede8er forum, may mga link sila dun in downloading Tools like mkvtoolnix, mkvinfo, etc.. Hope this helps

Yun 500x ko, kung HDMI lang ang gamit ko, walang audio. Naglagay pa ako ng digital connection. Unang version pa kasi yun sa akin. Wala pa yun sinasabing sticker. Pwede din ang RCA. Kaso i dunno kung magiging maayos ang decoding niya.

Tried the volume control sa remote. Using it for music listening. Pero sa DTS and DD, hindi gumagana yun volume control sa remote. Naka passthrough na ata ako pero check ko.

It's your receiver that does not do HDMI Audio, plus your TV does not accept DTS. Kaya walang sound pag HDMI lang.

May passthrough ang AV/R ko because whenever i play DVDs from my DVD player (HDMI of DVD player connected to AV/R), may sound na lumalabas sa TV. Pero sa NMT, walang audio.

walang optical input kasi HT ko, meron lang rca analog input, so kelangan ko pong malaman kung sabay na maglalabas na audio yung HDMI at rca analog output ng Mede8er MED500x para maipasok ko sa HT. thanks.

i checked my settings, the volume is 16 for movies(although 1 is enough just to turn it on, 0 is off) audio is hdmi passthrough. Sa music files volume can be used (1-30). Since i used 3.04 firmware, some movies (few) need the volume adjusted. Every thing else normal.. I dont know whats a miss if the settings are like mine. my AVR decodes dolby or dts but not true hd and ma from movie files.

yup, i tried adjusting them in dts and dd but its irrelevant since kahit 1 or 31 same lang sila. Hmm quite strange for no volume unless i think the amp set up was asked to pick up the opitical signal only and might need to be set to hdmi, i use to run my system like yours until i got an hdmi auto splitter..

Ayan. See? Ganyan din nangyayari sa akin. Yun nga lang, my AV/R is passthrough lang. Entry level lang kasi.  I guess the digital volume control of the mede8er simply controls the non encoded audio signals. Pero kapag encoded, parang on/off nga lang. I'm also using HDMI auto splitter.

Good PM.  I recently bought this nmt from ehome an just want to get inputs on how can I solve video stutter. I have a a wired popcorn a100 sa bedroom and I have my main player (mede8er) sa den ko.  Everytime i play videos via a100 from mede8er's internal hard drive, nag stutter ang video.  Both wired sila sa Dlink router ko(DI-524).  When i play video via mede8er from a100's hard drive, wala namang stutter? Would appreciate any inputs mga bro.  tnx

Just wanted to share with you my non-professional review of the 300X. I will just follow the same layout Doc Mel did in page 1


MEDE8ER MED300X

NMT player, quick start guide, component video cables, USB cable, power adapter, remote control, a carrying bag and an HDMI cable!

Front

The only button you will see on the 300X is the power button. Every other buttons found on the 500X has been taken out.

Back

At the back, there is component video out, composite video, analog left & right audio, HDMI, optical and coaxial audio out.  I can't remember if there is a LAN port and option on attaching a wifi adapter for wireless networking...I will check to verify. You can also find the cooling fan here.

Internal Storage

You can attach an internal 3.5" HDD inside, upto 2TB capacity.

External Storage

Same as the 500X, there is an SD card reader, 1 slave USB port (for attaching the Mede8er to your PC for management and transfer of files in your internal HDD) and 2 USB slots for your external HDDs.

Remote

The remote is slightly smaller than the remote supplied in the 500X. The only "BIG" difference I see is the "SEARCH" button on the remote...very helpful in finding movie files.

GUI

The Gui is still the same quality as the 500X, but better now, with the new "search" function, it is easier for find the film you want to watch, without having to scroll on the list.

Loading time is impressive. I am coming from an EGreat NMT player, and the Mede8er is FAST!

Another neat feature is the "preview" window on the movie file. As you press ENTER on the movie folder you wish to watch, there is a small screen to the left, which will show the preview of the film. Kinda like a picture in a picture effect on an LCD.

Image Quality

IQ is okay. I am not sure if it is just me, but it seem like my EGreat still has the better PQ as compared to the 300X.

Playability

I hooked up my external hard drives to this baby, and it played every single file, except for one file - The Incredible Hulk 1080p DTS MA. This is the largest file I have and it won't play on the 300X for some reason.

Audio

Out of the box, the 300X offers the following:

Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) Passthrough: Yes

DTS Passthrough: Yes
DTS-HD HR Downmix: Yes
DTS-HD HR Passthrough: Yes
DTS-HD MA Downmix: Yes

However, I feel that even with all these, the EGreat still sounded better. It could be my setting, but it is something that I still have to play around with.


Conclusion

The 300X's function is to be what it is...an NMT player! Networking capabilities present on the 500X has been eliminated from the 300X...or now just an option.

Like Doc Mel, this is just my initial review. As for the inconsistencies that I may have found, I still have to check if my settings are properly done, as I just connected everything and fired on.

However, out of the box, I feel that the only real advantage of the 300X vs my Egreat is the loading speed. As for video and audio quality, I still prefer the Egreat...but that's just me.
