Hi scifi-fan,

I just finished downloading again and tried to use the new usbupdate.html.
However, I'm still getting the same message as before:  Update Failed; Cross-customer update is not allowed.

What seems to be my problem?  My PCH A200 is fresh and no firmware update done before.  Do I need to do something before I update the firmware?

Thanks again.

Can you go to setup Maintenance and read the current firmware version....

SETUP > Maintenance

What's the stated Firmware Version?

Sir,

I'm positive that what I got is an A200... It sure looks one.

The current firmware installed in my unit is :
02-02-100118-19-POP-408-000

Based on http://www.popcornhour.com/download/C200/firmware-C200.html  , this is a C200 Firmware released last 29 January 2010.  That is why when I load the updated firmware of A200, I am getting the error of "Cross-customer update is not allowed."

Weird right?
Do I need to return the unit? or there is a way where I can correct the installed FW and make it to an A200 FW?

Thanks.

I would suggest na ibalik mo na agad sa seller.  May implications yung situation mo na hindi maganda.

Example:

\Avatar (2009) <---- subdirectory
\Avatar (2009)\Avatar.mkv <--- actual mkv file in subdirectory
\Avatar (2009)\Avatar.jpg <---- cover/poster jpg files
\Avatar (2009)\Avatar.fanart.jpg <---- fanart for detail page

If these jpg files weren't available during initial setup, you can update it by going into the movie (detail page) and select the EDIT button.

YES.

That's the big advantage of the A200 over the C200, the A200 has Slave mode USB.

Just plug it in your PC/MAC and the internal drive is mounted like a traditional USB hard drive AS LONG as your PC/MAC have the proper drivers to read/write ext2/3 partitions.

Personally I have all drives in NTFS format so it's easier

Finally, I got my unit back with the correct and updated A200 FW.
Hopefully it's all downhill from now on.
Thanks for all who helped.

Unless you had explicitly requested your store to install the C200 FW on the A200 when you purchased it, then someone must have "touched/used/played with" your (brand-new) unit before you.

I had learned previously that if I would like to be adventurous, I could cross-install the C200 FW to the A200 - but that should void the warranty.

Pero if you want to think positive, just consider it as an honest mistake "at the factory".   ;)

Thanks...it worked! I downloaded the driver for the ext2/3 and installed it in my netbook with windows xp... not compatible though with my laptop using windows 7...

Actually sir, it crossed my mind already that what I purchased was not brand new, only a refurbish one. But I would like to think otherwise.  Sana nga nagkamali lang ng pag-install ng FW sa "factory".  I couldn't have possibly made a mistake while updating the firmware because I listed the current FW before I did the update via USB so that I would know what FW to re-install if there would be a need to revert back to the original FW should the updated one will have bugs.  Besides, it wouldn't have given me the message of "Cross-customer update is not allowed" if the current FW is for A200 since I was updating it with the new FW for A200.  And I can't update it as well with a C200 firmware if the current FW installed was for A200.

Anyway, its all in the past now.  What's important now is, everything is the way it should be.  Besides, the shop confirmed to me that the warranty of the unit started only on the date of my purchase.  I can live with that.  I'm enjoying the my "new" A200 with the kick-@$$ NMJ.  That's what matters most.

Thank you and regards.

Are you referring to ExtIFS program? Actually, you can force it to install in Windows 7. I-tinker nyo lang yung compatibility properties nya. :)

^ If nandun ka na sa Compatibility options, may part dun wherein papapiliin ka ng mga OS. Just choose Windows Vista. It should work after that.

No problem. ;D I was faced by the same dilemma. May workaround pala sya. However, I think you should install it everytime you plug in your HDD. Kasi di kagad sya nakikita ng OS, once the PC has been rebooted.

Bakit ayaw mabukasan yung mga drives? " You need to format the disc before you can use it ." ...kapag try to open them.

Ganun? Di ko pa yan na-experience. After install ng Ext2IFS, good to go na.
