Anyone still HD DVD-ing?
« on: Jan 17, 2010 at 03:40 PM »
As Toshiba abandoned the format and introduced their own Blu Ray players I was wondering if users are still using it.

Yes of course I have 3 HD-DVD players as of now. I have around 100 HD-DVD titles. Mura kasi sila. If you check on ebay.com, HD-DVDs sell for around $2-5 per title, shipping lang.

I also own two HD players....got the second unit as back-up at a very cheap price after the HD DVD death declaration. ;D

I have over 100 titles. Will keep them for my library. Recenly I bought a few more due to the cheap price ;)

The Xbox360 HD-DVD add-on drive has been permanently connected to my main PC.   Works great with PowerDVD Ultra Ver 7.   I have about 30 titles only and last purchase were The Matrix Trilogy & Planet Earth in early 2008 pa.

yup. it uses hdmi. medyo mahirap ng makahanap ng brand new ngayon, you can look at ebay. or our marketplace here, baka may magbitaw ng units nila. as for discs, there are still a lot sites in the u.s. that sells hddvds.

Hi Raymond, yes give Amazon a try. Recently I bought some tittles around $4 each. Tho it's HD DVD, essentially they are still HD movies. Wow...if you add your Blu to your HD DVD, you'll have the biggest HD collections! ;)

Ooh...becareful for not using your HD DVD player for too long....it's good to "warm" up & use it once in a while so that the player is in good working condition..call it some workout regime for the old bones (precaution lang). ;D Previously I had a SONY DVD player (mid-range). After too long I didn't use it suddenly it can't play anymore. :( It's just like a car or motorbike...if too long didn't use, you'll have a hard time starting the car engine. ;D

on a plugging note.. i still have a hd dvd player bnew sealed for sale with bourne identity? or supremacy? and 300..

and on topic.. i still am format neutral.. i still believe hddvd>bluray.. both in quality and technology during the hidef format war era.. and if im not mistaken... hd dvds still are more stable even up to now..

kumbaga, hinog na sila nung inintroduce sila sa market.. samantalang ang bd.. well... ::)

but no choice eh..

It should worth a lot after 20 years from now....(just kidding) ;D

I presume this sealed player is your spare & that you already have an existing HD DVD player? :)

hehe thanks Paul, ya I will start using it. Man, I'm scared now.  I haven't used my a30 for the longest time (1 year or two). Ok will watch some hddvds tonight hehe..

Sometimes kasi I will do hddvd week, bluray week, dvd week hehe..Ya I'm that weird. Kinda square headed or obsessive/compulsive I guess hehe..This is what I do, I try to watch one format and try to finish all the movies, file it then go thru each movie's special features. After that I plan to  alphabetize them hehe.. This is the only I will know that I went thru the whole disc haha.. ;D

Thanks, ya I have around 150 hddvds I think ;D. But I already watched almost 80 percent of it.

kaya ba mag play ng jacks ang hd dvd player? :D

Bec. of its rarity, I will not even play Jacks on it

Whoa..over a year na...eh better hope it still works pa hehe...Toshiba products are usually have good QC so I believe your unit should work fine. ;)

I find your pattern of watching alternate DVD, Blu & HD DVD is very normal actually....with your huge Blu collection, it will take time to catch up all of it. ;D

I see...same boat here, I supported strongly on HD DVD but at the end that @#$% crazy WB pulled the plug so soon & caused the pre-matured death of HD DVD...well I guess it's better for the mass to end the format war the soonest possible time. :'(

You might want to keep the sealed unit as a backup? One day in the distant future when all the HD DVD players start to break down one by one (and can't be fixed anymore), this mean many users will start to hunt for a good unit esp those who own lots of HD DVD collections... ;D

hehe thanks sir, I don't think I will be selling them unless my players break down na. Hopefully not. I don't double dip to bd versions. The only ones "I may" double dip are Fearless (bec I really love it, and extended ver ata the bd), Planet earth and The mummy series bec. a couple of these discs I have are skipping.

Wala pa rin yatang Notting Hill in BD?

Yup this is one disc I really treasure in my hddvd collection. I'm willing pa nga to buy a backup disc if it will not come out in BD  in the near future hehe.. Me and my wife really love this movie pang Valentines, Christmas, birthday etc.  ;D

Same here....so far the only movies I double dip: Fearless & King Kong, both due to the "extended edition". And also Terminator 2: Skynet Edition.  :)
