palit video card master, or processor?
Either can resolve the issue. Changing to a modern processor would mean a new board too.

If you're buying this machine, might as well live with it until the thing fails. MPEG-4 and VC-1 are still the most popular distribution formats anyway.

Not much. The GT 610 supports the same video formats but can play higher resolution video (but run at the same output resolution.

If you're looking at video playback capability, you may be better served by a modern android box at this price point.

Why are you using VLC anyway? VLC uses a software decoder that uses the GPU for hardware acceleration (via DXVA). This saturates the weak CPU in the system as it does most of the work. Use a software that can use a proper modern codec that supports your GPU's hardware video decoder.

Anything recent. PowerDVD, Splash, Kodi, etc. can utilize the hardware decoder when configured to do so.

VLC for Windows is just outdated Windows XP era software, hence the lack of proper support for even not so new hardware.

Parang maganda yung Intel UHD Graphics ng mga 8th generation Core CPUs (Coffee Lake/Kaby Lake-R) for HTPC applications, efficiency wise. Coming soon daw. May nag leak na price list sa PCHUB na.

I believe it still needs the LSPCON chip to support HDMI 2.0a, like Kaby Lake. The integrated graphics design is allegedly a carryover from Kaby Lake (rebranded). I'm sure overall performance would go up with the added computing cores, however.

Btw, kahit naka 6gb total graphics memory na (onboard+gtx1050ti), may isang file format na magee-stutter pa rin ung video, itong .webm 4k file nasa 100% cpu utilization parati ung A8. All other file formats no issues including HEVC. If kodi on Windows 10, nasa 9-10% lang cpu utilization.

The thing is, flawless ang webm file if played on the minix u9 using kodi.

You may have the same problem as ninjababez. The software you're using isn't using the GPU's hardware decoder. VP8 and VP9 hardware decoding is a recent addition to GPUs, so most applications do not have support for it. Look for a player that can use an external codec, and try having it use the LAV Filters. The latest filters and GPU drivers should help you offload that work.

VP8 is a Google codec (what is in that WebM container). Android has had support for it since Gingerbread, while its successor (VP9) has been supported since KitKat. Android enjoys more software maturity with this codec and has had ready support for hardware decode for a long time, though the hardware that performs this only became commonplace in the past few years.

To add, graphics memory does not get pooled in use unless you're using split/scissor frame rendering. This is normally for 3D workloads via DirectX, OpenGL, Vulkan or Mantle. Asymmetric Crossfire took full advantage of this mode before it became mainstream, as it was easier to proportion work between GPUs this way.

Going back to topic, you're only able to consume the 4 GB graphics memory in your dedicated GPU for video. You can always choose to disable the APU's integrated GPU (if your BIOS allows you to), if you want to stop reserving memory for it (this will also prevent you from using it on HSA-optimized applications).

+1 for LAV video decoder. I'm using the new D3D11 native decoder mode with my GTX 1080 and it works really well with the MadVR renderer using the Jinc upscaling algorithm.

On the topic of MadVR upscaling, I tried using NNEDI3 64 neurons but it keeps on crashing due to a bug between OpenCL in the drivers and Windows 10 Creators Update. The new NGU upscaling algorithm is even more demanding on the hardware to achieve the same quality so that's a no-go also. Jinc seems to offer the best balance of performance and quality for me.

I'm using the K-lite codec pack btw, since they seem to have continued the development of the MPC-HC player.

I think we've already discussed this. It'd depend on the format that you're playing.

It's a little slower than the i5 that you previously posted, but aside from that it will support the same formats. It is a step back from your current GPU in format support, though it is a faster machine overall.

Yup, quite a significant difference. Kung video playback lang habol mo and you plan to use Windows 10, also consider the G3930. You get more up to date format support for less money.

It offers hardware decode support of 10-bit HEVC and VP9; both are becoming more popular.

The CPU price difference will more than cover the difference in board price. Even H110-based boards support the G3930 if it was manufactured fairly recently (up to date BIOS).

I have already stated the difference, and that is support for the indicated formats. Whether that is "malaki" for you or not is really up to you. You don't need a dedicated GPU to support modern formats with the G3930 as it already decodes them in hardware.

To check how well your system handles VP9, launch a recent version of Google Chrome and run a high resolution video.

Here's an example:
https://youtu.be/nRt4Duf7GoI

- Right click on the video and click Stats for Nerds. If the Codec says "vp9," then you are running vp9. If it is not, then disable plug-ins like h264ify.
- Change the quality to see how high you can go before you drop frames; the higher quality settings will need a fast internet connection (unless you're willing to wait and buffer).
- Open Task Manager and check the CPU utilization at each resolution -- a computer that decodes vp9 in hardware should not show a large rise in CPU utilization as the quality is ramped up

That takes you to an up-to-date socket, giving you a wide upgrade path. Actual performance wouldn't be much different from the A8-7600. Expect it to handle most bitrates of H.265 and VP9 upto FHD via software decoding. Common older formats can be handled in hardware.

If you're planning to get a dedicated GPU, might as well wait it out and get it together with a Ryzen 3 1200 or equivalent.
