Yes, it's one of the standard feature of any BD or HD DVD player.

It can even upscale other supported video formats such as divx, mp4, mpeg, avi through USB (if supported) or media discs.

Oh ok, thanks guys! But how's the PQ/SQ of upscaled standard DVDs? I'm planning kc to buy HD DVD player instead of blu-ray (sobrang mahal kasi). But ang hindrance ko lng din kc is ung availability ng HD DVDs locally that's why I wondering if I can rely on upscaled standard DVDs.

Bro, HD DVD is phased out na but of course if you can still manage to find a bargain unit & willing to take the risk, it's a good/cheap way to enjoy HD movies. ;) The only problem is the limited available movies. But you still look around & able to buy from secondary markets for new/used copies. Or you can try our own forum  ;D e.g: http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=112020.0

But if you want to future proof your player & want the latest movies, then you may consider Blu-ray player. I think some are selling around 6k to 8k. For the BD discs, Amazon (or secondary markets) are selling as low as P400+ per tittle. Amazon below $10

I use a Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player as my primary DVD player.

Even though phased out na ang HD-DVD. The HD-DVD player is still an exemplary DVD player/upscaler.
You can avail an HD-A2 2nd hand for about $60 nalang.

I'll be willing to help you unlock the region coding of the player pa because HD-DVD players are region locked.  ;)
