The New Jersey Nets were close on Sunday evening to acquiring All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in a three-team deal with the Detroit Pistons, but are still looking to get a commitment from Anthony and his camp on a long-term contract, according to two league sources.

The deal would send Anthony, along with guards Chauncey Billups and Anthony Carter, along with center Shelden Williams, to the Nets. Detroit would send veteran Rip Hamilton to New Jersey. The Nets would send guard Devin Harris, rookie forward Derrick Favors, guards Anthony Morrow, Stephen Graham, Quinton Ross and Ben Uzoh, along with two first-round picks, to the Nuggets. New Jersey would send center Johan Petro and forward Troy Murphy (and his expiring $12 million contract) to Detroit.

There's a joke going around that the Cavs will be the first team that's going to be sent to the D-League.  Kawawa naman.

On the other hand, good to see that the Lakers are taking care of business.  After they face a couple of other non-playoff bound teams like GS, NJ and LAC next, they play OKC, DAL, DEN, UTA and finally BOS end of the month for a rematch of last year's finals.  :)

Meanwhile, Miami chases history as they try to win their next road games vs. LAC, DEN and CHI.

Just watched the Lakers Vs. Warriors online. One of Kobe's better scoring games in recent years. Also, the Warriors just couldn't miss, the Lakers just made more shots, free throws and rebounds. Reminded me of last season's Lakers Suns playoff games

Saw the replay.  One of the better shootout games.  Kobe vs Ellis, astig!  Yes, Warriors played an awesome game.  LA, particularly Kobe, simply played better.   A Wild West Shootout indeed...

Yeah saw this.  Actually, early on panay na girian ni Odom at Griffin. Husay nitong Griffin.  Ang daming binabastos sa mga dunk nya!

Here's the clip of the ejections:  http://nba-facts-and-rumors.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/27098490

Parang nag over react mge refs for ejecting these players.

Lakers vs Thunders ongoing.  58-55 halftime.  I really think Okl matches up well with the Lakers.  This is youth versus experience.  Lakers almost lost to this team last season in the playoffs.

here are my NBA mid season awards

MVP - Derrick Rose or Kevin Durant - Hard to decide from those 2 right now and they both deserve it.

All NBA team

Derrick Rose
Dwane Wade
Kevin Durant
Amare Stoudamire
Dwight Howard

The hardest to decide will be the Small forward since I know LBJ deserves it also but I think Durant deseves the nod right now.

Defensive Player of the Year - Kevin Garnett - No one is more ferocious in the D specially Team Defense than the Big Ticket, plus his communication makes his team mates D become even better.

Rookie of the Year - Blake Griffin - enough said hehe

Most Improved Player - Kevin Love - Monster - He was already good but right now he is definitely BETTER...

6th Man - Jamal Crawford - With the Jet starting now because of injuries, i think there is no one better and more explosive off the bench.

Coach of the year - Tom Thibodeau - author of Boston's D, now doing the same for the up coming Bulls

Executive of the Year - Pat Riley - Just to bring Wade, LBJ and Bosh together deserves his winning...

How about yours...

Good list. Agree with many of your choices.

SG: Kobe - DWade is a wash, so I could go with either.

Small forward is a tough choice too. I wouldn't give it to KD as he isn't even the best player on his own team; Westbrook is. LBJ has taken a step back from his former efficient self. So I'd go with Pierce (though personally I don't like him), who's contributed more to the C's best record than KG.

PF: Amare has put up big numbers, but he only plays well on one side of the court (offense). Dirk was formerly a lock here but he's been out. I might even pick Griffin at this point in the season.

Tough not to include Manu, Rondo, DWill...

yup he is qualified that is why he is also playing for the rookies in the all star game. Though for me he deserves a slot in the real main event together with Kevin Love...
