It was really a humiliating loss and something that all LA fans would want to consider a bad dream
. After that Game 3 loss, my 10 year old son, a huge LA fan, kept saying "Ayoko na sa Lakers Dad!!". All I can do is give him a pep talk on the old "winning, losing, team loyalty" blah blah and "it-ain't-over-till-it's-over" but you know how kids are. Anyway, after that Game 3 loss I thought it was over. I figured it will be a blowout in Game 4 and it was! During Game 3, I really sensed things aren't well in the Laker bench. Several times, Coach Phil was caught on cam lambasting GASUL. And those errors in the dying minutes again killed them.
Looking back at the series, it could have been 2-2 by now as the Lakers actually took Games 1 & 3 but lost in crunch time. If only they played their usual game.
But let's give where credit is due : MAVS played a hell of a series! Dirk, Peja, Terry shot the lights out and the bench of the Mavs totally outplayed LA. Mavs bench scored 86 points in Game 4 - that's the total score of the entire Laker team!!
As for Coach Phil, well, yes he had a good run indeed. But it could have been a better ending, not getting swept in a playoff series. Dyahe talaga. But life's like that. He's a Zen Master and I'm sure he can take that. Lakers definitely will bounce back. They will survive no doubt in the coming years. But as one member said, mahirap kalimutan sa isip yun 0-4
That's NBA ladies and gentlemen.
Congrats to the Mavs. Finally Dirk has exercised his demons
Looking forward to a still exciting championship ( sans the Lakers ). I asked my son what team will he root for now? His answer? "HEAT!". Darn.
