folks please advise me if i should be opening a new thread or pwede na ding isakay sa thread na ito, im just wondering what happened to several players na magagaling pero bigla na lang nawala, bakit kaya sila nawala.

1. Xavier Mc Daniels
2. Shawn Kemp - became a drug addict
3. Tony Kukoc - played for Milwaukee after the Bulls' 2nd three-peat then retired
4. Latrell Sprewell - i think he retired in Minnesota
5. Yung puting player na tawag nila the Great White Way ba yun nasa Sixers dati na number 55 kamukha ni
    leonardo di caprio
6. Steve Smith, alam ko analyst na pero bakit biglang nawala after ng pagsikat nya sa Hawks - plagued with injuries
7. Yung PG dati ng Bulls na number 1 pick tapos naaksidente sa motor Jay Williams yata yun - didn't not play anymore. career ending yung accident nya.

Ranking? Sorry that's not what I'd like to think about. Mas gusto kung isipin yung, compose your all-time team, filling each position.

PG: Magic
SG: Jordan
SF: Bird
PF: Russell (yes I know he's a 5, but I'll put him at 4)
C: KAJ
6th man: LeBron

With that lineup I'd have shooters in MJ and Bird, Magic controlling at point, the ultimate low post threat in Kareem, a 4 who can defend anyone, and a versatile 6th man. Also a strong rebounding team and, most important, a smart team. Slight weakness would be in individual defense as Magic and Bird were not strong on-ball defenders.

Ang tagal kasi ng game 1 kaya balik na naman tayo sa history haha.

Pippen slightly softened his comments later in the day on Twitter.

“Don’t get me wrong, M.J. was and is the greatest,” Pippen wrote. “But LeBron could by all means get to his level someday.”  ;D

TOP 5
1. MJ - you wouldn't trade him for anyone
2. Kobe - you wouldn't trade Jordan for him
3. Bird - would you trade bird for Kobe?
4. Karl Malone
5. Olajuwon
*LBJ could've been on the top 5 or even top 1 if not because of the decision.

special mention:
Duncan, grant hill, Kareem, Russel and Magic

We support you Kabayan!

Article taken from from CNNSI.com:

SPO'S POPULARITY: The Heat broadcast department has been running live pregame, halftime and postgame shows on the team's official website during the playoffs, generating about 500,000 distinct hits so far and with growing numbers as the playoffs go deeper.

Most of those hits come from the United States, of course.

The nation logging on to Heat.com second-most? The Philippines.

That might sound surprising at first, but there's a very good reason for Filipino interest.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is extremely proud of his Filipino heritage, and has a huge following in his mother's homeland. He visited there in July 2009 - his first trip there since being a toddler - and plans to go back sometime this summer.

Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom rank third, fourth and fifth as far as international clickers onto the Heat webcasts. Germany is sixth - a number that might rise during these finals, given the immense popularity of Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki in his homeland.

here is mine

C: Russell
PF: Duncan
SF: Bird
SG: MJ
PG: Magic

2nd team
C: Shaq
PF: Malone
SF: LBJ
SG: Kobe
PG: Stockton

R1: Olajuwon
R2: Pippen

The hardest position to choose is the SF spot as there have been numerous players in that position that were awesome and great players... Hondo, Elgin Baylor, Grant Hill ( i still think he would have been one of the greatest if not for injuries), Worthy, Rick Barry, Adrian Dantley, Dr. J, Wilkins, Alex English...

My nod goes to Bird beacuse he was the one who revolutionized the SF position with his complete game and unwavering competetive spirit...

sa context lang ng mga superstars. kasi ang ring binibigay sa lahat ng members ng champion team.

Rings in my opinion enhances a player's greatness.  But it's not what defines the greatness of a player.

Ask any legendary player....of course they would have wanted a ring.  But they won't trade their all star career for a mediocre one with rings.

Precisely my point!  Nadali mo rin yun gusto kong sabihin bro.  Using your example, tama ka. Si Karl walang ring but he is definitely, without an iota of doubt, way better than this bespectacled Rambis.

That's why, my premise in my statement was "kung padamihan ng rings", Horry is the man.  But he's not right?  Kasi nga hindi talaga padamihan ng rings.  And as you yourself mentioned, using your Malone vs Rambis example, rings are nice to have but not prerequisite to greatness.  So if not rings, what then?  Statistics definitely.  Quantifiable eh.  Numbers don't lie.  Then we take in consideration qualitatives like impact to the game, athleticism, competitive streak, ability to close out games, etc etc.

Eto siguro ang nakita ni Pip when he uttered that "LBJ is better than MJ" remark.  Not now definitely.  But at the rate LBJ is going great guns, I will not be surprised if he overtakes Kobe first, and then Jordan.  Maybe sooner than we think he can.

Bro, humble na si Lebron Raymone James pala.  Here's his answer to Pip's comments:

(from cbssports.com)

Scottie Pippen seemed to rattle the very foundation of basketball when he claimed that LeBron James may (operative word: may) be better than Michael Jordan. It was a claim that virtually no one on the planet really believes, much less wants to hear.

But Pippen said it and with him knowing MJ as well as anyone, we all had to at least acknowledge the comments and therefore, discuss them to no end. Well, finally we have LeBron's thoughts. Via The Sun Sentinel:

“Mike was an unbelievable player,” James said Saturday. “I got a long way, long way to be mentioned as one of the all-time greats. Not even just Jordan – there are a lot of great players who have played in this league: Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and all these guys that are floating around with multiple rings. Bill Russell. All of these guys who have pioneered the game for me and [Dwyane Wade].

“I’m gracious, humbled by Scottie’s comments with him being a teammate of his and seeing Michael on a day-to-day basis. But as far as me? I don’t know. I’m not going to sit here and say I’m better than Jordan or if I’m not better than Jordan. It's not about that.”

Hanep ah.  ISDATYU, LEBRON?

Whether LBJ's decision is right or wrong, or whether you agree or not, it certainly generated tremendous success.  How can you argue with success?  Read on--

NT's 40-game coverage of the 2011 NBA playoffs, including the Eastern Conference finals between the Heat and Bulls, averaged 5.5 million viewers -- the most watched in cable TV history. Miami's series-clinching victory over Chicago in Game 5 drew 10.4 million. The network's playoff viewership was up 29 to 37 percent in all key demographics, with the biggest increases coming among 18- to 34-year-olds. Which means the NBA reshaped forever by LeBron last summer has captured the imagination of the young viewing public like no other sport. That's important, game-changing stuff. Not only that, but if you were among those who criticized LeBron's business decision back in July (like me, for example), now would be the time to admit that you were wrong.

The nation is consuming the NBA product in any format it can get its hands on like no other time since Michael Jordan won his last championship in 1998. An average of 8 million unique visitors per day have been clicking on NBA.com during the playoffs, producing 1.5 billion page views and consuming 545 million videos. On other national web sites, LeBron and the Heat have created a cottage industry of reporters, videographers, bloggers, talking heads, haters and homers from coast to coast. According to Bloomberg News, LeBron winning a championship could be worth as much as $4 billion in additional revenue for Nike over the next decade -- and that's from China alone.

The impact of LeBron's decision will be felt in the NBA for decades to come, and already has changed the way executives think about building their teams.
