In short kanya kanyang taste!
But I have to say this, we are having a very good exchanges of ideas and opinions at this thread. Let's keep it healthy and fun!

P.S.
MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE GREATEST! Nuff Said! ;)

Same lang naman with Jordan. He wasn't very much successful sa playoffs until Pippen arrived in 1987. malas lang ni LBJ walang dumating na "Pippen" sa kanya while he was with Cleveland.
"He was selected fifth overall in the 1987 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics and traded eventually to the Chicago Bulls for Olden Polynice.

Pippen became part of Chicago's young forward tandem with 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m) power forward Horace Grant, although both came off the bench to back up Brad Sellers and Charles Oakley, respectively, during their rookie seasons. With fellow Bull Michael Jordan as a motivational and instructional mentor, Pippen refined his skills and slowly developed many new ones over the course of his career. Jordan and Pippen were known to frequently play one-on-one outside of team practices simply to hone each others’ skills on offense and defense."

the question is what would've happen if someone like pippen joined cleveland back then?would james be willing to share the limelight?will james help that person become a better player?
i would dare say that pippen became what he is partly because of jordan.and those two, alam mo na agad kung sino yung batman and robin unlike sa case nila wade and james.

not on the first year but on Pippen's 2nd year when he became a starter that's when they started winning in the playoffs.

jordan pa din, hindi lang naman stats pinag uusapan dito kundi pati yung leadership qualities ng isang player.jordan knows when to take over the game and when to pass.he also makes his teammates look good (samantalang yung isa, wade made james look good).saka si jordan relishes the thought of beating the best not joining them.saka tawag kay lebron "king james" di ba?meron bang king na lumilipat ng kaharian?di ba he is supossed to be immovable?saka kung ako yung coach di ko kukunin yung isang player na nambabanga ng coach tapos wala man lang sorry, parang walang nangyari  ;D

and the best included magicJ,kareemaj, larrybird, isaiahT,clyde d,charlesB,NiqueWilkins among others, mga pang top50.

kings conquer, they dont change kingdoms.

di kaya may identity crisis pa si lbj at dw. sinong batman, sino robin?  ;D

___

sa ngayon, si kobe pinakamalapit na as air apparent/pretender pero nabahiran this season, swept by the mavs.

in a sense hindi na-dethrone si mj mula nung mag-champion. 6rings, 6finals mvp. saan ka pa?!

mj and the bulls were never dethroned. they went out on their own terms. gusto ko talaga yung 2nd 3-peat lineup mj,scottie, dennisr(diving for the ball),luc longley(hu u luc?) rejuvenated ron harper (once touted to be perhaps just like mike until his injury)+toni kukoc stever kerr (3pt artists). may champion swagger, hindi naman yabang kundi oozing with confidence.
....and now, your chicago bulls! intro the best!!!

,,,cause perhaps its a once-in-lifetime experience to see the best of the best.

as for lbj, marami ka pang kakainin, bata. umpisahan mo ang pagsungkit ng ring...next year ;D
___

fave center? 6ft.7inch wes unseld of the baltimore bullets hehehe

Magic Johnson said, "There's Michael Jordan and then there is the rest of us." Larry Bird, following a playoff game where Jordan dropped 63 points on the Boston Celtics in just his second season, appraisal of the young player was: "God disguised as Michael Jordan.

you are right sir,si jordan kahit maraming playoffs failure di sya sumuko sa team nya.never recalled him looking for another team just to boost his chances of winning a championship. yung patience nya sa teammates at sa sarili nya to grow until mahinog sila for a championship ring nandun.

interesting fact from nba.com:

How many games have the Mavs lost to Miami since the 2006 Finals?

None. They are 10-0 since watching the Heat raise the O'Brien Trophy on their home floor.

di ba may commercial/tv ad dati na ...he missed gamewinning shots 26times ba yun?

point here is he wouldn't be able to achieve some of the things that he's accomplished like winning a championship without help from his team mates most specially Pippen. both of them helped each other out when after every practice they would play 1-on-1 against each other to hone their skills offensively and defensively which in turn got their chemistry together and resulted in 6 NBA championships.

I think that's the difference. When the bulls got Pippen, nobody ever figured he would be as good as he was.  So MJ helped Pippen develop his game.  After coming out of college, would any team optimistic that someday Pippen would be one of the 50 greatest players of all time?

With Lebron, dun kagad siya sa sureball.  Nanigurado kung baga.  Wade was already an established superstar and the 2nd best 2 guard in the NBA. Some say arguably the best 2 guard already and a perennial MVP candidate.

i dont think he was offered big money during that time. if i remember correctly, even mj thought he wasnt that good. he wanted to settle for long term contract. security habol nya nun.  actually he was one of the underpaid superstars during that time. mas maliit pa ata sahod nya kay john paxson. when larry johnson came. lahat nagulat sa multi million dollar contract na nakuha ni grandmama.  but did u ever hear mj complaining or asking to be traded? wala.  binawi nya lahat sa endorsements. it was only during the latter years of his championship season when nabawi nya ang sweldo nya sa bulls. that was when he opted to sign a yearly contract. i think he got around 30-40m per year. thats the reason why mj was much appreciated. he was a true gentleman ( honoring contracts)  and only asked for what his value was worth AFTER he has won a championship.

Pretty much sums up Duncan's career....underrated in a sense that he is anti hollywood.  Boring game.  Boring personality........so his career is taking much for granted.

Underrated coz he was the best player in 4 title teams.   Played 2 with a just declining David Robinson in 1999..a near to retire in 2003.   His main support in 05 n 07 are pasang-awa allstars in Manu and TP.

4 rings with rosters that on paper would say "They must have overachieved..."   Duncan has a lot do with it.  So in my book....Greatest PF in the NBA all time.  ;)

Amen to that brother.... pag minsan kasi we the fans tend to also radiate greatness through the shimmer and spectacle of the NBA.

For me TD is the bet 4 that ever played the game also, leading a small market team to 4 championships and consitently having a great career without any fuss and glitter... Malone is a better scorer, but i think Duncan is a better all around player at the 4 spot and more cerebral than Malone...

of course naman sir,di naman kaya ni mj buhatin yung team mag isa.lahat ng teammates nya even yung mga 2nd stringers should be given credit.kaya lang sa bull kasi alam mo agad si mj main man,sya yung inaasahan ng team lalo na sa late stages of the game.but still kahit alam yun ng mga opponents he still made those winning baskets and championships.sa miami hindi eh,they have 3 main man.hindi mo masabi na kung yung main credit should be given to wade or lebron or bosh.thats why mj and lebron should'nt be compared.kung nasa cleveland pa sana si lebron puede.

yeah sir I agree. actually, i don't know why people keep on comparing LJ to MJ eh ni hindi pa nga tapos yung career ni LJ. LBJ already showed that he wants to make his own destiny and does not want to follow on the foot steps of MJ, still people keep on comparing. pati tuloy ako nako-compare ko nadadala kasi ako sa discussions ;D hahaha

MJ noon... LJ ngayon...

DRose ba? Kobe ba? Lebron ba? Dirk ba? Wade ba?

since natalo na Lakers at Bulls...

Interesting turn of discussion, about PFs. There's not too much discussion about the 4 spot.
Here are some PFs who have won the MVP award. Anong opinion niyo mga boys...

Duncan: underrated
Malone: overrated
Garnett: ?
Nowitzki: ?
Barkley: ?

Duncan: best player to ever play the 4 position... no fuss, no nonesense all glory...
Malone: overrated? maybe... but you can't deny the man scored a ton of points... malas lang niya he played in the time during MJ and the rampaging bulls hehe..
Garnett: A+++ defender, great communicator on defense... very intense and hard on himself which in some time is also his weakness... revolutionized the HS to NBA path... sure 1st vote HOF
Nowitzki: Insane abilities at the 4 spot, has the length of a 5, position and strenth of the 4, scoring prowess of a 3 and the shooting touch of a 2... man if he can only handle the ball as well as a PG then he will be vistaully impossible to guard hehe... but what i appreciate most about him is the time he puts in to improve his game and craft... I think he and Ray Allen are undoubtedbly the hardest working players when it come to practicing their shooting...
Barkley: Great 4 also, but undersized. Power and tenacity in the game though is his mantra.Same as Malone, MJ prevented him having a ring...

perhaps a better basis for determining who really is the best player of all-time is this:

being named regular season MVP, winning the championship and being named play-offs MVP.

MJ did these in 4 instances, 1990-1991, 1991-1992, 1995-1996, and 1997-1998 seasons. he lost out to Charles Barkley for the regular season MVP in the 1992-1993 season and to Karl Malone in the 1996-1997 season. But in both instances he led Chicago over the Barkley-led Phoenix Suns and the Malone-led Utah Jazz to win the championship and garner play-offs MVP.
