Was lucky enough to see Shaq play in person twice. He came to Manila and played with some NBA and non-NBA players against PBA players. During practice he hit more three point shots than you can imagine him hitting. During the game he insisted on playing PG, plus he picked up a couple of PBA players on their way to the rim and helped them to dunk the ball. Good fun.

Saw him in Staples in the playoffs. Thankfully the Laker crowd is a bit quiet, so you could hear him slamming his shoulder into the bodies of people defending him in the low post. One of them was Dale Davis, and you could hear his oomph-oomph-oomph as Shaq bulled his way in. Dale's facial expression was like, "Kulang ang binabayad niyo sa akin!!!"

Brian Grant used to say that whenever his wife saw him putting extra ice in the freezer, she would say, "Oh, I see that Shaq's in town, huh."

Salamat Big Fella!

16. Pull for these Dallas Mavericks because the way things are going, the Dallas Cowboys may never win a title again.

That was my favorite of the 20, haha.

Quote
5. Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki stayed with his team, never took his talents anywhere but to the damn gym every day.

6. Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki has stuck it out through 13 seasons so far with this one team, stuck it out through all those depressing playoff springs, all those one-and-dones, all those words people called him -- "loser" "choker" "soft" -- stuck it out even when Steve Nash left, leaving Nowitzki with a lot of nobodies and some mops.

7. Pull for Dallas because when you ask Nowitzki why he didn't bolt the way everybody else does, he simply says, "Because this is where my heart is."

8. Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki didn't try to win a title the new way, didn't pick the best kids on the playground and take on everybody else, didn't get a bunch of super-human friends and schedule himself a ring, like you might a kegger or your birthday party.

Sure, except The Dallas Morning News reported after last season that Dirk met with Cuban to demand a trade, to the Lakers even, because Dirk felt that the Mavs could never win the championship.

Balanced reporting was needed here.

13. Pull for Dallas because Kidd is the guy everybody likes,

Sure, except that, in the Urban Dictionary, the term "Jason Kidd" means beating your wife, as that's what Jason did once. Which, just to be fair, is an actual offense compared with the so-called sins of the Heat's amigos, who were merely arrogant and obnoxious in the preseason.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/15189680/superteam-trend-in-nba-crippling-or-flat-out-super

On a marketing standpoint, superteams like Miami Heat are good for the ratings.  Tumaas ang viewership ng NBA.  Highly entertaining talaga.  But watching the Heat demolish teams, good teams like Boston, Chicago and now, Dallas, di kaya dapat mag step in na ang NBA and put some regulations here?  Don't you think it's unfair to other teams na walang Big 3?  Baka mawalan na ng pagasa yun ibang team?

Dapat siguro gawin ng NBA yun rule dito sa UAAP at NCAA natin na di pwede pagsabayin sa court ang dalawang import.  In Miami's case, dapat di pwede sabay si LBJ and Wade?  To be fair to other teams. Sobrang lakas talaga eh.  Delikado na yun Lakers ko next season if they will not get another franchise player like Howard and dagdagan pa nila ng Chris Paul para match na sa Miami Heat.  Ang labo di ba?

OR, dapat hingan na dapat ng PLUS lagi ang Heat.  PLUS 10 per game! Haaay...

may salary cap ang NBA to prevent this from happening.

20  reasons why you should root for the Mavs

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=6614490

1. Pull for Dallas to win these NBA Finals because Miami will get forklifts of rings someday. This might be Dallas' last chance.

2. Pull for Dallas because it got screwed in the 2006 Finals worse than Bartman. To lose to the same team five years later would be tantamount to basketball waterboarding.

3. Pull for Dallas because Mark Cuban hasn't opened his mouth once.

4. Pull for Dallas because Dirk Nowitzki deserves this title more than anybody else on the floor, more than LeBron James, more than Dwyane Wade.

9. Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki has this crazy idea about trying to win one the old fashioned way, by getting better.

10. Pull for Dallas because James is so heaven-sent talented that he'll get more than his share of rings before he's done.

11. Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki is much closer to done than starting now.

12. Pull for Dallas because 38-year-old Jason Kidd deserves one, too, despite what he says. "I want this more for Dirk than for me," says Kidd, who's played in three decades -- 17 years -- in this league without champagne in his hair. "All the work Dirk's put in, all the time. Man he deserves it more than anybody on this team. Plus, if he gets it, that means I get one too, right?"

13. Pull for Dallas because Kidd is the guy everybody likes, the Ray Bourque of the NBA, the one everybody wants to see hold the trophy over his head someday. If he doesn't win it now, in his third Finals try, he'll never win it.

14. Pull for Dallas because it has the best locker room in the NBA, not a whiner among them. There are more good guys in that room than in some divisions.

15. Pull for Dallas because it doesn't do pre-championship celebrations. Dallas has this crazy notion that you should actually hold the trophy in your hands before you throw the parade. Wouldn't it be nice to give them one?

16. Pull for these Dallas Mavericks because the way things are going, the Dallas Cowboys may never win a title again.

17. Pull for Dallas because it's clear they're the underdogs in this, sort of the way a squirrel is the underdog vs. an owl. You knew that after Tuesday night's Game 1, the way LeBron James was flying over people like Air Florida and Dwyane Wade was dazzling everybody else, the way he does in NBA Finals. You knew that the way they pulled away to that win in Game 1.

18. Pull for Dallas because its best player, Nowitzki, has a torn tendon in his left middle finger now and yet never once blinked when we asked if he'll keep playing.

19. Pull for Dallas because it's not about The Decision. It's about one team taking the easy way to a title and another team taking a way that just keeps getting harder.

20. Pull for Dallas, because, my God, how many good things can happen to Pat Riley in one lifetime?

juwan howard, mike bibby,ilgauskas...

I get this.  But my point is can't the NBA prevent identified superstars from teaming up?  Like Kobe, Lebron, DRose, Durant etc.  Para patas ang labanan.  As it is right now, the lineup of the Heat with LBJ and Wade, is ridiculous.  Too strong for the opposition.  Kawawa naman the other aspiring teams na gusto rin namang mag champion.  Or maybe sana may handicapping system if you have two or three superstars in your team.

Dapat siguro gawin ng NBA yun rule dito sa UAAP at NCAA natin na di pwede pagsabayin sa court ang dalawang import.  In Miami's case, dapat di pwede sabay si LBJ and Wade?  To be fair to other teams. Sobrang lakas talaga eh.  Delikado na yun Lakers ko next season if they will not get another franchise player like Howard and dagdagan pa nila ng Chris Paul para match na sa Miami Heat.  Ang labo di ba?

OR, dapat hingan na dapat ng PLUS lagi ang Heat.  PLUS 10 per game! Haaay...

Naalala ko yung PBA restricted list nuon, which included Fernandez, Victorino, and Guidaben.  Na hindi sila puwede magsabay sa isang team...  Sorry OT.

wala siguro magagawa nba dyan, mafia meron  ;D.sa palagay ko hindi rin magtatagal tong sila wade and james sa miami.sooner or later one will want to be recognized as the main man of the team and magkakaroon din ng awayan dyan ,such as what happened to the lakers with shaq and kobe before.ring lang naman habol ni lbj eh.di natin alam kung anong mangyayari kung sakaling makakuha sya ng isa.he may want to demand a trade so that he can join a team where he can be the only superstar.puera na lang kung gusto nya lampasan yung mga rings na nakuha nila kobe and mj.

bad journalism imo. most of the reasons he said were redundant. he could've actually shrunk it to 5 reasons. i also don't agree with number 14. saying that the Miami players are whiners is subjective but they're telling it like it's a fact. all of the players in Miami actually have their own charity or foundation so by this reason there are more good guys in Miami than in Dallas' locker room. how many of the players in Dallas does this? this writer trying to incite hate towards Miami and halata naman na hater lang sya.

also, di ba nya alam na sinabi ni Dirk na kung siya yung inalok nila LBJ and Wade na maging kakampi nila na sasama daw sya? so the reason to root for Dallas because Dirk stuck it out with the same team is already thrown out the window.

last but not the least, enough with this Dirk deserves to win the championship crap because of this and that. you can only deserve the championship if you actually won it and not because of some other reason.

Times change.  Everything now is instant.  Instant gratification.  Fast food. We're living in a push button era.  Pati sila Lebron, ayaw na maghirap.  I can't blame the guy.  Ganyan ang mga bata ngayon.  And nag iba na rin talaga ang NBA.  Now, here's a hypothetical question - if the 90s Bulls were playing now, would MJ have done the same?  I mean, would he have opted to team up with another superstar?  Kasi kung hindi naman nya gagawin, can he take singlehandedly the Big 3 of the Miami Heat? or other Big 3s and Super teams for that matter?  Hard to tell.

i dont think pwede yan just to balance the league eh outright na pagbawalan ng nba ang isang star player to join forces with another superstar or superstars. the nba can only regulate, and it is addressing this issue by imposing a salary cap for every team. lahat naman ng team are aspiring to get the best players they can get because lahat naman sila gusto magpalakas to win a championship. it just so happened na mas madiskarte ang miami heat sa negotiations so when the opportunity came to get lbj and cb, dina pnalampas. so sorry na lng sa mga talunan sa bidding  :)

nope, mj will still get his 6 rings and maybe more... officiating is a lot stricter in NBA today as compared to when MJ played with the bulls... dati sobrang gulpi ka sa gulangan saka ka lang tatawagan ng referee, ngayon madampian ka lang foul agad..

kung yung era nila mj,ron harper, pippen, rodman, longley against the heat ang sinasabi mo,tingin ko kaya sila ng bulls.compare mo na lang yung starting five.tapos off the bench sila kukoc saka steve kerr.i mean im pretty sure pippen can limit lbj, jordan can guard wade.lbj can guard pippen but i'm not sure if they can handle "his airness",plus yung productivity ni kukoc off the bench.

nope, mj will still get his 6 rings and maybe more... officiating is a lot stricter in NBA today as compared to when MJ played with the bulls... dati sobrang gulpi ka sa gulangan saka ka lang tatawagan ng referee, ngayon madampian ka lang foul agad..
yeah,i've seen some of the games of the bulls vs pistons.maaawa ka kay mj nuon sa mga fouls na binibigay ng pistons sa kanya.saka di pa uso mga flopping nuon.

20. Pull for Dallas, because, my God, how many good things can happen to Pat Riley in one lifetime?

i'm for dallas either way.  ;D
