Typical LCD is already HD. If ever baka yung mga monitor lang which are mostly HD already.

LCD is measure in resolution (pixel size) and always in progressive (native scan)

So if the resolution of the lcd is 640 x 480, its 480p.

Older computer LCD monitors in 4:3 formats support 1024 x 768. Newer computer 16:9 version LCD supports 1280 x 720.

Full HD LCD TV as per the specs supports 1920 x 1080 (in progressive) in native resolution.

Most of the LCD today are in 1280 x 768 or 1280 x 720 resolution (maybe this is the one you are referring as Typical), while Full HD is 1920 x 1080 (and this is HD, though the former is also a HD).

So technically the difference is resolution.

We are not even speaking here of contrast ratio, panel type, response time, etc which are parameters in checking an LCD.

@kuhplox_007,

Kung ang panonoorin mo ay original DVD's na upscaled to 720p or higher, at gamit mo ay non-HD na LCD (malamang ito ay 4:3 monitor para sa PC, or even 16:9 widescreen pero hindi talaga HD resolution), oo kitang-kita ang difference.

DVD pa lang yan, lalo na siguro pag Bluray or 720p na game console like Xbox 360 or PS3.

HTH  ;D
