I've ordered both titles from Amazon France and they arrived today.  I quickly sampled the DVDs and here's my quick info about the releases:

Lola DVD
Excellent picture quality
Available in 2 versions: French-dubbed and original Filipino with French subtitles
One of the special features is a presscon in English with French subtitles

Kinatay DVD
Excellent picture quality
Available in 2 versions: French-dubbed and original Filipino with French subtitles
All of the special features are French dubbed (and as far as I can remember all taken from the Cannes Film Festival website.)

After Viva's highly censored releases of Serbis and Tirador, my chances of buying their local releases of Mendoza's other foreign successes are ZERO.

Thanks for the quick flash reviews, rse!

I've just seen the Venice Film Festival press con of Lola's special feature.  There was a bit where they were describing how they ended up using a real cadaver in the scene in the funeral parlor with Anita Linda.  They said that Anita's reaction was real. They said that they originally planned to use an actor for the scene but during filming there was a homicide victim at the morgue and they asked the wife's permission to use the body for filming. Brillante was telling this story with another Filipino guy (I think he's the writer or something).   They were laughing as if they're telling a funny story.  I found it a bit disrespectful.
