I don't know if I already posted this one, but the necrophilia scene before the bloody finale in Peque Gallaga's SCORPIO NIGHTS demands to be seen several times.

The Greatest Shocking Moment in Philippine Cinema........ :o :o :o

i couldn't agree more... but i wouldn't want to see the necrophilia scene again.

Did you noticed the muddy white thing on top of Anna Marie Gutierrez, Jo, after Daniel Fernando was shot by Orestes Ojeda?  ;D ;)

Its a disgusting piece of s h i t man! But I need your opinion about that. I noticed it after I watched the uncut screening at Glorietta cinema a few years back.

And Peque Gallaga doesn't want to show it with cuts. Buti na lang the moralists......gave it permission for just one screening. Same print that they shown in Toronto Film Festival where one foreigner walked out screaming....."this is pornography!"

Defecation, keating? You think so? But was Fernando in the right postion (assuming the shock of the bullet wound made him do so)?

In which case...and I'd be heartily glad to learn that you're right...it's even more extreme than In the Realm of the Senses! But only if you're right...

I think its more than that Noel or maybe a mixed up. Daniel Fernando was on top of Ana Marie when Ojeda fired the bullet. If you'll look closer on Ana Marie's body before the necrophilia scene...you'll see more blood and white spots torn into pieces.

Don Escudero's production design was quite impressive.

Fernando on top doesn't sound good...maybe if they were side by side, or if Fernando was made to squat.

I haven't seen IN THE REALM OF THE SENSES, was it more perverse and better than SCORPIO NIGHTS?

It's more graphic, you see genital action and all...but the male is so passive, and there's no tension to it. And the ending is bloody, but I like Scorpio's ending better, somehow.

I watched again last night Mike de Leon's KAKABAKABA KA BA. The dance sequence by the nuns led by Nanette Inventor still rocks after all these years!

In the newly restored version of Kakakaba, which I hope will be screened soon, Erwin Romulo, with Mike's permission, added additional music to the soundtrack which was also restored. Erwin says that his additions are very subtle and won't in any away affect the orginal.

When is the release of the dvd? With the reclusive Mike de Leon behind the scenes, it's cool to revisit again this film.

In Joey Gosiengfiao's NYMPHA, Alma Moreno plays a nymphomaniac who can't control her lusts and desire over men. Enter Alfie Anido on the scene as a carnival worker who eats fire. I always tremble whenever I remember that scene between the two.

The two people met and became friends.....Alma uttering such lines as "gusto kong kumain ng apoy" to Alfie when her sickness engulfs her. Their glances are spontaneous, natural and pure heat!

Holy Ghost!  ;D

Heck, it kind of stretches credibility when she plays a nun in Sister Stella L. If that's a nun, I wanna be a priest.

Casting was one of Himala's biggest strengths.  Each and every one in that cast looks like they've suffered through a long drought in Ilocos.  I think Vilma Santos will look like a tourist in Barrio Cupang.

The ensemble cast were all great from Vangie Labalan, Spanky Manikan, the prostitute- Gigi Duenas, Pen Medina, Joe Gruta. Incidentally, Joe Gruta is the husband of my colleague in the office. One time she brought the whole script of HIMALA in the office.

That was on the later part of the movie. Then after that, the endearing court scene.

mine has to go with raymond red's anino

*spolier*

when the rich old man (eddie garcia) confronted the
photographer (ronnie lazaro).

the photographer, losing all hope in the world, stole
the rich man's gun and started slapping him.

the look on ronnie lazaro before he was beaten up
by the cops was just heartbreaking, a perfect mix of
anger and sadness.

My Picks:

1. "Plantsa" Scene in "Insiang"
2. Lolita Rodriguez in labor in "Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang"
3. The Exodus scene in "Oro, Plata,Mata"
4. The scalding scene in "Bona"
5. Bembol Roco in the last scene of "Maynila Sa Kuko Ng Liwanag"

Before Tarantino's RESERVOIR DOGS hit the stratosphere, we are ahead in terms of, uh, torture scenes.

Lito Anzures used tin can slid to cut Johnny Delgado's ear in Abbo dela Cruz' MISTERYO SA TUWA. Its the most disturbing torture scene that I've ever seen so far in a Filipino film.

Pasolini's SALO is perhaps the most disturbing and graphic film I've ever saw in terms of cruelty and torture scenes.

Definitely not for the faint hearted and squeamish.

In terms of shock value, the bloody finale in Gallaga's SCORPIO NIGHTS is still unmatched.

See, with Scorpio Nights, it's the combination of extreme sexual arousal and sudden ultraviolence that gives it its power. The blood rushing to and from your phallus leaves you dizzy.

Jay Ilagan courting again Rio Locsin his ex-gf in SOLTERO as Rio confesses why she doesn't love him anymore and blurts out her resentment to Jay. Here are two people both dumped by their loved ones and seeking their own happiness.

Jay Ilagan's character is the most sympathetic bachelor that you'll ever see in Philippine cinema.

When Maricel Soriano stabbed Zsazsa Padilla in a heated scene in Chito Rono's "Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin"(Star Cinema, 1994)
