stable at bug free na ba ang V8.5 na firmware?

I dont think so!.. messy guys should really be attending to our feedbacks! There are problems like (on V8.5):

1) File names are in-correct when viewing as "thumbnails"
2) Preview box not working. (I was able to re-solved it, reset it to factory settings on the setup menu)
3) Scanning the HDD even if the auto scanning is "off"
4) Annoying windows at every start up, BT/SAMBA procecess
5) I cant eject external DVD both at the source or from the remote, power off/on then immediately eject  from the source to make it work.
6) Some intermittent lags
7) Response became bit slower
during playback, the navigation bar not working anymore (did they intentionally disabled this function?)
9) I used the file move function to another folder but the file was lost. I found it on the "MOVIE" icon but I cant play it.

pros:  aside from HDD formatting issues solved , better GUI, no more movie stopping (ewan ko lang sa iba)

SW issues:

1) There're no indication on the screen resolution when you change it from the remote. You dont have any idea if what resolution are you using. (dati may lumalabas na 480i, 520P, 720p  etc etc)

2) Recommendation lang naman. If you disconnect the main power line and  plug it again, the unit will be turned on automatically. I would suggest "BETTER" if it goes to standby mode first.

3) (not so important) Baduy screen saver he he he he
4) Malaki ung power ON blue LED indicator (always on), it should go "off "for few seconds. (Please measy do this)



HW:
1)  GRRRRR! the remote!LOW response,  binutas ko na yong harapan pra ma expose ung LED transmitter, konti lang improvement. You have to align the remote with minimal angle and distance to work properly.

2) If your not in an ACU area, HEAT bulids up inside the unit. Probably the fan is small, I would suggest using internal HD that are low power consumption or lower RPM's like the WD greens.


Despite all of this, I still like my unit, im enjoying it as long as there's support from measy for new firmwares.

Good question!   The thing is I haven't tried other NMTs.  Dont worry about it, this is just a SW issue. I was just comparing it from the V6.23 which was more responsive before. Hopefully it will be improved on the next firmware release.

On other NMT of my friends, Ive seen SW flaws as well. Besides, what we are talking here are the cons,  nakakalimutan na kc ang mga pros...

Mukhang ok naman ang remote ng unit ko, i don't experience slow response... viewing distance ko is 6 to 7ft away from the unit

pede ba downgrade to from 8.5 to 6.23? pangit ng latest fw. walang preview. tapos mabagal pa response. and also im using file manager to browse movies .. rather than use the MOVIES section... kasi pinagsasama sama nya lahat.

Hi Dex,

My HD has 55gb available space.

No Preview issue?  Try this, reset the unit, goto setup menu. Click Factory default. It worked on my unit, nag ok ung preview.  Tiyaga ka na lang sa 8.5 firmware.  Downgrade to 6.23 is complicated. Im sure may lalabas na new firmware soon.

try ko yung tip mo.. yung reset ba, 0ff lang and then ON?

ang sa akin kasi  pag press ko system update biglang nag blank screen tapos yung sa tv sabi nya.. invalid format palagi.. kala ko nayari na yung measy. hehe. yun pala nung time na blank screen sya.. naguupdate sya.
off and on ako ng unit palagi nun.. swerte naman at yung process ng pag update nag continue.


paano na ba mag preview dito? sa file manager  ba?

I upgraded the firmware to V8.5 the other day and the few complaints I have are:
 1) BT/Samba pre install screen
 2) new files put into a flash drive does not show unless scanned by the unit.
 3) can't seem to find a button to manually scan when you want it.

Preview of files is working for me.

Questions I have are, how do you put files into the HDD? I do not have wifi. Do I use the supplied USB cable to connect to PC or do I use a lan cable?

LAN or USB will work. USB is decidedly faster in my experience, but I transfer over the LAN for convenience.

the measy player will act as an enclosure once you put the usb cable to your PC. Sa likod ng measy may maliit na usb then yung end nun papunta sa PC.

So far ok naman ako sa Measy...

Upgraded to 8.5, mas mabagal nga sya and keeps scanning HDD kahit naka-off sa settings. Pero you can always press "Stop" naman.  NT/Samba Process takes only a few seconds so not that annoying for me. Remote control response, ok naman sa akin. Works flawlessly even at about 8-10ft away (nakaplastic pa yung remote). Siguro dahil na rin sa absence ng fluorescent lighting, I know this affects IR operation.

All previews are working, mabagal lang sya pag mabilis masyado mag-scan through movie titles. Naiiwan yung text ng previous movie dun sa bagong selected movie title. GUI is better. Pero I'd prefer pa rin the previous FW. I guess we'll just have to wait for a new FW to be released.

Overall, masaya ako sa Measy.

Try to press the Menu button above the Home button. The option to show preview should come out there. Hope that is what you you are looking for.

Hi,

I just upgraded my E8HD HD media player to firmware to 8.5. Just notices a few bugs with it.

1. BT/SAMBA process window pops up when turning on the UNIT.
2. Auto scanning cannot be turned off.
3. It seems when scrolling on the movie under file manager the file doesnt refresh properly.



Questions:

1. how do you enable preview?
2. how do you downgrade to previous firmware?


It seems i like the old firmware. Hoping for your fast response. Im active on forums, and considering many people in the philippines are using this unit, they too have the same questions. Your reply will be forwarded as well to other forums in the philippines so that they can get the answers to these same questions as well.

Also please clean your forums sections and secure it so we can post and share ideas as well, just like with xtreamer's website

Is it possible to downgrade the firmware? my existing firmware is V8.5, my observation besides the BT/Samba pre install screen at bootup, seek display is no better than the old one, is sluggish transfer of files from usb to internal hard drive, V6.23 is way faster as I remember.
Has anyone attempted to downgrade firmware to V6.23?

Grabe itong bagong firmware grrrr. bagal sa network, panay ang flickers pa ... even files copy over the network takes forever to complete ! BT Torrent download is a hit and miss configuration.....

As for the moment...6.23A is still the preferred firmware. For those want to downgrade from 8.5 to 6.23A. Leave your email add and I'll sent the instruction.
