By the way sir garfield, just wanted to confirm. Is the casing made out of plastic (sorry unit in Dubai & I am in Abu Dhabi) or is is it aluminum, I just thought of something on how to remove the HDD without breaking the tray but would not be possible if the body is plastic.

It's made of plastic

Yikes, back to the drawing board then. Thanx again :)
Just cannot stop thinking of ways to remove the HDD. And I have this itch to try to remove it although there is no need to do so :D

Will let everyone knows what happened come this Friday.

Also just a follow up, I'm on v9.01 and what I noticed when I view files from my network shares on my NAS is they are not alphabetically arranged. Is that normal??

No. I haven't really used YAMJ for browsing through movies or playing them through an HTML link. I have only used the YAMJ feature for movie infos. So when I browse through the folders setup for each movie (which also contains the movie info/fanart), I can just view the movie info (jpeg file) to see what the movie is all about without opening it.

I'm not sure if YAMJ fully works with measy. If I remember correctly, YAMJ only requires a player to have HTML broser capability and be able to play video files from an HTML link. So if Measy has both of these features, then YAMJ may work.

Like beginner, I've downgraded from v9.03 to v8.95R with ease no force update needed, main reason the subtitle works at v8.95R, now I understandably enjoyed watching foreign films and some movies w/ in between foreign language scenes. ;D.  But still waiting for Measy for a new firmware w/ corrected subtitle issue.

Sir, is the 8.95R FW you're using is the same as posted by Sir garfield a few pages back?

Thank you for the info Sir, do you have to upgrade to 9.03 first or were you at 9.03 already. I have 9.01 and I am not sure if it possible to downgrade right from 9.01

Ok, will try. Do you also view files from the network or solely from the internal drive? Wanted to know if 8.95R display them correctly in alphabetical order as it doesn't in 9.01.

guys tanong ko lang, pano ba paganahin subtitle if separate file sila sa folder? kaya ba? currently dowgraded to 8.95r and using bittorrent, so far nagana naman except for samba, i dont know kung stable connection nito unlike ng 9.02r na kahit iwan mo ng 24 hours di bumibitaw ang torrent, yun nga lang sablay ang subtitle...anyways hoping someone will answer my querry, tanx and gud morning!

Kaya 8.95r is not the best firmware for measy but if subtitle is an issue for you this can do the job.  Measy should get back to the drawing board to fix the subtitle if they are going to make another firmware Measy. 9.03 is a good firmware hope they could make it better.

naka alphabetical naman sya, may bug lang during thumbnail search pag masyado kang mabilis sa pag pindot sa remote, nagbabago ung thumbnails pero naiiwan sa screen ung mga title ng movies sa previous page, un ang problema sa 8.95r medyo poor ang sync ng remote sa player or sa firmware mismo ang problema, to cure this gentle pressing lang or if you want a fast searching without the thumbnail switch ka nalang sa list mode.

You should put the SRT file together with the movie on the same folder para madetect ng player ung .SRT file during playback, just go to subtitle menu and select the subtile na madedetect ng player then it will show, tweak mo nalang ung ibang option ng subtitle like the offsetting maaaring wala sa frame ung placement ng subtitle kaya u have to offset it at sympre ung font sizing ng subtitle baka maliit kaya di rin gaano makita.

No issue on subtitle in 8.95R..kahit srt or embedded. Just make sure pag srt, together sila inside 1 folder with the movie and also dapat same ang title.

example: Titanic.mkv and Titanic.srt

or Titanic.720p.hdtv.mkv and Titanic.720p.hdtv.srt

sorry if i confused you, subs is working great on 8.95r, in my case i have some files na nakahiwalay yung subs sa folder, bt/samba is functioning pero madalas nawawala, ganun na ganun yung na-experience ko sa 6.23, i dont know if others also encountered that..

Probably better to ask for suggestion what firmware would work for me..

Here's just the things that I wanted to work;
1. Subs
2. Samba

Because my setup consists of anime's, korean series and they are being pulled from a NAS server. No need for BT.

just want to share, i'm still in 8.80 fw (have tried upgrading many times but failed)=. Surprisingly, the BT downloading is perfectly working. I read here that BT download works only in the old 6.43 fw. the only thing i hate about the 8.80 is the SAMBA during startup, besides that, okay with me. So I guess I will keep it.

And what's the problem with SAMBA at startup? Do you have a copy of 8.80, like I said in my earlier post I am on the hunt for a FW that have the subs working and SAMBA.

BT/Samba start up when booting. it takes approx 10sec to complete, medyo hussle. 8.80 is the default fw when i got the unit. yes, subs work with this version.

Tested tonight...BT/Samba does work in my FW 8.80

Tested a torrent (photo at 10MB) in my Destiny Internet connection. Connected to Measy (LAN Cable).

SAMBA works too...

Sir garfield, do you have a copy of 8.80. I downgraded 1 of my E8HD to 8.95, can confirm SAMBA works, subs work but haven't tested BT yet. But I still have the issue when viewing files from NAS as it not shown in alphabetical order although internal files shows up fine. Might try the 8.80 on the other and see if correct my issue with NAS files or am I just missing a setting and by the way, how do you do the BT thing?

UPDATE:
Ok, I know now how to do the BT. Just tried it but I am more concerned about the viewing of the NAS files.

UPDATE 2: BT doesn't work, I just tried adding but when I try start nothing happens. What I did was to try to add another but it the selection for the device partition doesn't show anything to select. But it's fine with me as I don't really need.

Just waiting for someone to share the 8.80FW as I wanted to try it and see if it list my NAS files in alphabetical order.

UPDATE 3: Can confirm the issue of the filename (lagging/staying) on the same name even though you scrolled to another. Browsing thru file is such a hassle (specially if you have them in multiple directory or you locatedon a NAS share) and creating a shortcut is too complicated and I wouldn't say that it is really a shortcut. Remember this is on 8.95R FW because I have to downgrade from the 9.01 because subs didn't work.

This made me rethink about removing the screws on my HDD. Rather than forcefully removing the HDD maybe I'll just keep the screws. As this could be an issue in our house because there are lots of kids who might play/accidentally press those 2 arrows and eject the HDD (I think there are 2 springs inside pushing the HDD outward). But I don't recommend putting screws on your HDD as you might not be able to remove your HDD.

@E8HD on 6.23AW user;

Can anyone please give a feedback what issues you have with 6.23AW. I wanted to compare this w/ the 8.95R (I downgraded 1 of my 9.01 E8HD to 8.95R) before I downgrade the 2nd one too.

UPDATE: Couldn't wait for the feedback :) . Went ahead and downloaded the 6.23AW and was prepared to downgrade to 6.23AW but an instruction that came with the FW stopped me. It says that I have to reformat the HDD, which is not acceptable because I just filled it with some 500GB worth of videos. But I still wanted to go and test the 6.23AW, just 1 question before I go ahead. Can I skip the HDD format or this is really a step that's needed to complete the FW install?

UPDATE 2: Took the plunge and tried to downgrade from 9.01 to 6.23AW but it won't let me as it doesn't see the FW in the USB. Is downgrading to 6.23AW applicable only via force downgrade?

UPDATE 3: Just downgraded to 8.95R, but probably try to downgrade from there to 6.23AW as I read a few pages back, someone downgrading from 8.95R to 6.23AW although I'm not sure if via force downgrade.
Tried to downgrade from 8.95R to 6.23AW but it is the same as from 9.01. It does not recognize the FW file, so probably force downgrade. Would just probably wait till the subs are fixed on the 9.0x series.

For 8.95R to 6.23AW...only thru force downgrade possible. Reg hdd format in 6.23AW, Yes you need that if only you need BT/SAMBA in 6.23AW. Otherwise you can have 6.23AW fw without formatting the HDD.

Thank for the info sir garfield, is it really slow in transferring files via SAMBA or is it just me. Does it have an FTP server function?
