@tatubias

Go to video setting under setup and select NTSC or PAL depend on your TV.

The NTSC or PAL options some time appears. it seems to be related with the tv you connect to the device.

finaly i decided to buy a lcd with hdmi to forget those issues. today i will try to apply firmware 9.05 again.

i will let you know the update.

Little hacks.

i was able to access the e8dh device though telnet.

1 -  connect to your network the e8hd.
2 - configure it, so you can access

3 -  go to the CMD and run telnet (E8HD IP)
user: root
pass: (it does not have password)

As you can see is a Linux Venus 2.6.12.6-VENUS

There you can access to all configuration files.

as an example i edit the resolv.conf file to update DNS ips.

to edit files you user vi command.

Tutorial how to install FTP Server: E8HD

it is supposed that you have an hd installed on the system. this is the way i did. The software fot this example will be located on the hard drive. its better if you install it on the internal memory of the system.

Tutorial:

cd /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1
mkdir ftp
cd ftp
wget http://rtd1261.wikidot.com/local--files/files/ftpscript.zip
unzip ftpscript.zip

Make a backup of the config file if you make a mistake on the original
cp /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/bftpd.conf /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/bftpd.conf.original

Edit the configuration file:
vi /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/bftpd.conf

Replace the following lines.

PATH_BFTPDUTMP="/var/tmp/bftpdutmp" to PATH_BFTPDUTMP="/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/bftpdutmp"
MOTD_GLOBAL="/var/tmp/ftpmotd" to MOTD_GLOBAL="/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/ftpmotd"
PATH_FTPUSERS="/var/tmp/ftpusers" to PATH_FTPUSERS="/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/ftpusers"

To start ftp server:
/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/bftpd -d -c /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/bftpd.conf

if you want the ftp server start every time the media player starts add the following.

Edit init the startscript

vi /etc/inetd.conf

and replace ftp line by:

ftp stream tcp nowait root /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/bftpd -d -c /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/bftpd.conf

Reboot Media player.

you can access with root user and no password.

If you want to edit the login path of the root user you can modify ROOTDIR as i did in the example. Edit /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/ftp/bftpd.conf

user root {
  ANONYMOUS_USER="yes"
  ROOTDIR="/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1"
}

firmware 9.05 yes it does all of that.  but if you like to play with the device  you can make it do more things. as an example you can be able to add an other torrent clients that is more stable an fast.

and the MOST IMPORTANT THING. if i install any 9.x firmware my device DONT WORK. so im waiting until a new firmware is out and test it.

Hi Guys

I have an issue.. I forgot to bring the measy remote. Can I control the E8HD via the webpage control panel? If not; can I use a harmony one to control it?

The problem is without the remote. You can't see what ip address of the Measy. So web control is not possible. Sorry!

For the more techie ones, and have the right router features, you should be able to see all IP addresses and device names on the router's DHCP table...  Baka makita nyo yung Measy dun, with the corresponding IP address...

The problem is without the remote. You can't see what ip address of the Measy. So web control is not possible. Sorry!

to solve that  you can do the following.

connect you windows pc to the networkg
go to Start --> Run
type CMD then click en OK

[/URL

run in the cmd screen ipconfig There you can see what it your ip.

example:
c:\>ipconfig

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

        Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

        Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.11  ( this is your pc)
        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 ( this is the internet router)

Ethernet adapter {E2974172-532D-4F50-840E-C9087DCB5D56}:

        Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
....
...
--------------
[URL=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/96237127.jpg/]

If you see Default Gateway That is the ip of your internet router probably the media player it is in the same network.

so you will need to to some ping tests to verify which ip is the correct one.

example. in the command line windows type. ping 192.168.0.2

c:\ping 192.168.0.2

Pinging 192.168.0.2 with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.2:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

c:\>

-----------
As you can see in that output you do not have any connectivity. let see an example that it has.

c:\>ping 192.168.0.15

Pinging 192.168.0.15 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.0.15: bytes=32 time=5ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.0.15: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.0.15: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.0.15: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.15:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 5ms, Average = 2ms

c:\>

Here you can see that a device has response to you request. but you still dont know if its your media player or other computer. you you can do the next test to check if it is the correct one.

type telnet 192.168.0.15
the windows goes black and then appears a login screen
Venus login:

If That happens it means that that is you Media player you can use that ip to access to it.

en the windows explorer type \\192.168.0.15\ and you will be able to see it.

you will need to repet this procedure until you get the ip of the media player, you will need to ping secuencialy untill you get the correct ip

ping 192.168.0.2
ping 192.168.0.3
ping 192.168.0.4
ping 192.168.0.5
..
...
ping 192.168.0.60

probably will be located in the first 10 or 20 ips.

An other possibility is lke paolo is telling us. you can access into the router web interface and then search for the ips connected into your device. there you will be able to see your computers and others that are connected in your network. also you will be able to see your media player listed.

Hi garfield...
That is not an issue as I can easily get it's ip address with an app I have on my iphone. So my question remains.. is the play/pause/browse file possible with the web control? I am asking this because I am currently on 8.95R and as I understand that the web control is available only in the latest 9.05?

FW9.05:
-  still cannot output AAC 5.1 properly.
-  Center channel audio is still missing.
-  Subtitles working properly.

So far it is either convert audio of all films or stay with 8.95

Please fix the AAC multi channel audio. Thanks.

Hi

I have a E8HD and I experience dreadful speed when using samba to transfer files (200 to 500 KB/s) and bt is totally unstable. I´m using FW 9.05. My device uses the rtd1073 chipset.

Does any one have the same problem?

I tried the ftp tutorial but my devide does not have the folder volumes inside /tmp/hdd. Does FTP improve speed?

tks
