Firstly we are so sorry for the FW issues. And the truth is we are changing the engineers internally...Due to the internal affairs...we were kind of slow respond. but from now on...it is much better support, especially the FW part.

no problem, thank you very much. i hope we can find a solution ;)

Terminator:

Please have the Sorting of Files fixed. We would really appreciate it if this fix can be included in the next firmware release.

Please make us happy by including this in the fix. It would make our viewing experience much better.

Thanks! :)

Hello my friend,
1. You don't need to press Time-seek to go through all the movie you've just watched. You can press digital button 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc, and it will skip to 10%, 20%, 30% 40% etc of the whole video. Please try.

2. AAC 5.1, we are still trying to make it work at the moment.

Thanks for your tip on the time-seek. I'll try it out.

If you can include a Search function on your next FW update, that would be very much appreciated I think. Measy owners have a lot of movie files on their units, and it's a PITA to have to keep scrolling down through a list of movies. Would be great if an on-screen keyboard can pop up allowing us to search for a particular filename/movie title :) thanks

Little findings for "tunning."  note: probably if you do this you will birck your device. only do this if you really understand what should be done.

What i have realize is that the firmware or linux is mounted on a file system that is read only (squashfs) so it is impossible to make changes on the important file system directories.

you can remount the file system with parameters Read Write, but as the file system is read only you cant do any modification.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SquashFS

The only thing that  can be done is convert the file system into Yaffs file system so you can edit files. The process should be done editing the install.img file and \package2\squashfs1.img

* untar the firmware install.img
* "un pack" file system  \package2\squashfs1.img
* "pack" squashfs1 with yaffs filesystem.
* tar install.img
NOTE: i dont know if the kernell support yaffs file system it would be interesting to analyze that before doing any change.
note1: it seems that  /usr/local/etc  is mounted under yaffs files system so kernel may support yaffs.

/ # mount
/dev/root on / type squashfs (ro)
none on /dev type devfs (rw)
none on /proc type proc (rw,nodiratime)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw)
none on /sys type sysfs (rw)
none on /tmp type ramfs (rw)
/dev/mtdblock/2 on /usr/local/etc type yaffs (rw)
/dev/rd/0 on /mnt/rd type vfat (rw,nodiratime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=cp437,iocharset=iso8859-1)
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 on /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1 type ufsd (rw,nodiratime,uid=0,gid=0,fmask=0,dmask=0,sparse,force)
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part3 on /tmp/hdd/root type ext3 (rw)

in the middle of a listening session, my e8hd suddenly stopped playing music and made my amp/speakers produce a hissing sound. i found out later that it could not detect my 1tb external disk, even a 2gb thumb drive can not be recognized (1tb and 2gb storage were tested to be working fine on my computer).

i have never used an internal drive and using firmware 9.05 for a month now.

thanks in advance for any help!

V9.06
1. Improve BT Download function

Update:2011-07-18 17:20:22

http://www.measy.com.cn/download/showdownload33_en.htm

I did install it and my device work (FOR A WILE) then it bricked as always.( THIS IS A SITUATION THAT HAPPENS WITH MY ONLY DEVICE YOUR WILL NOT GET BRICKED). This was the first time a 9.x version did start on my device. ( i WAS very HAPPY for short time)

i was able to check bittorent did work well also samba was fast (test for a realy short time). did test security on samba and bittorrent did work.

screen saver showing flicker or picasa (dont rember which one was) did work.

The interface is much more resposive to the remote control, i did realy like that much more faster.

bittorrent client is BTPD and web interface is webneighbours as always. it did response much more fast that fw8.95

web interface to control the device i was not able to use it (dont think that it has installed), did test opened TCP ports and 7171 was opened and 8082  but they did not response to http. i did not test https

i was able to log into the device though telent. as usual root is the user.

web content it seems much more updated than 8.95 fw. i was able to navigate though some of the content. and it did work.

When i did reboot the device did not stat any longer.

i did reflash the device with 8.95 firmware and it did start as is should, then i did follow the exact procedure to reflacrap to FW 9.06 and did not start as always. its a pitty im upset.

hi,

i flashed my e8HD with 9.06 firmware. everything is fine except with the network. i have a realtek 802.11n dongle which was previously detected using 6.23FW. now my HD player cannot see my router :(.

any similar experience? thanks.

Anyway, i re-flashed my e8hd with lower version 9.05 and the player is now able to see the router. i was also surprised to find out that the firmware is no longer a measy FW but is called Flavo Ultimate 11, from a korean player Krizer - but the graphics and layout are so much the same with measy 9.06. i got the firmware from this thread also - but it is named as 5.23. when i checked the actual version though from the player, it says 9.05.

i haven't tested the AAC audio yet. but i got frustrated due to frequent hang up of Flavo. 6.23 is still the most reliable FW in my opinion. however, i'm now trying the 9.05 of measy which doesn't scan the HDD. flavo 9.05 always scans the HDD although you have turned off that option. measy 9.05 is doing well so far. BT of Flavo is ok as well.

i havent seen such FW support from other brands. we are lucky with the after sales support of measy. my other brand of HD player releases FW update every 5 months.

note:  im testing. 6.23 and i did the update for the bt samba ipk pakages.

*look and feel: it looks little old compare with the 8.x or 9.x version of the firmware.
*much more stable, i can play mp3 and go around and the soft does not hung. ( let me try harder ) lol.
*internet content basically the same that 8.95 (outdated but is works)
*movies: i played some segments and did run ok. i haven't watched a complete movie. but looks fine by now.
* it did not make me format the harddrive when installed. GOOODDD
*bittorrent recognized what i was downloading. i did re load the .torrent and it started to download what i was downloading.
*web interface: it is grate. fast well done. etc. i have not tested dyndns yet. but i will do soon.
*ftp: did work as expected.
*Samba did work, much faster that 8.95FW. (will be testing speed later)
*telnet work as it should user: root pass:does not ask for password

About file system: it seems that has yaffs file system this means that you can install any software on it. that is good if you want to update bittorrent or install transmition bt client. etc.

How to Enable Adult content. This can be done only with Firmware 6.23

This cant be done with 8.x or 9.x firmware because the file system is SquashFS and is read only. with firmware 6.23 yo  can modify a lot of things. here it is an example.

log into the device thought telent.

cd /usr/local/bin/IMS_Modules/XLive/scripts

cp menu.rss menu.rss.ORIGINAL

vi menu.rss

find Adult ( use / key to search)

Remove "<!--" text  and "-->"

It should see like the following. screenshot.

Then save and quit. ":wq"

go to the Internet content then go to Xlive and there you will see the Adult menu.

Most content does not work but the last 2 links has content.

Now with this possibility of the firmware that can be written it would be a great oportunitiy to update the software. or install transmition, or install new web content.

i have these files A.Turtles.Tale.Sammys.Adventure.2010.1080p.BluRay.X264-AVCHD and A.Turtles.Tale.Sammys.Adventure.2010.720p.BluRay.X264-AVCHD. when i play these on my measy, after 30 seconds of the movie, the video (panasonic hdtv) turns green and hangs my measy afterwards. but when i preview them (small screen), it plays smoothly. what could be the problem? i already used mkvtoolnix but still the same.
