being a very satisfied owner of the 42X10 it will be interesting to see carlo's review of the X20. i heard that the X20 panel is a tad more reflective..
its price however is its biggest asset. i wonder why panasonic have discontinued the X10 in favor of the X20. i would assume there are not much of an upgrade made.

Ahhh! Heaven sent ka carlo!

this is something ive been looking for since Im in the market for a 42" plasma and this seems to be the best value for money in the market now. Only big concern is its reflective panel. I hope you test it also for a "semi-lit" room.

looking forward!  ;D

DVD/Blu-Ray:

Connected to a Pioneer DV-610v set at 720p (Native resolution of the panel), the X20 delivered picture quality that is, in my honest opinion, on level with that of Panasonic's previous offerings like the C10 and the PV80. But on normal or bright lighting conditions, the X20 may seem more subdued over the PV80 thanks to a very reflective screen. The plus factor of a reflective screen though, is the fact that there is an illusion of glossiness, this now becomes a matter of subjective tastes for the individual.

On blu-ray, we saw how Panasonic continues to stun us with detailed pictures backed by solid black levels. Panasonic seems to have mastered the 720p arena, that despite the X20 being merely an HD-Ready unit, it's great rendition of color will give you a reason to jump over to the HD bandwagon, even though it's just the HD-Ready side of the moving cart. Please remember to set this buggy up in a very controlled lighting environment.

More soon.

Just take a look at how reflective the X20 is, you could see the background of the room and even my wife (comitatus) as she takes a pic of the unit.

But let's not put a bump stop there, the pq is something to behold!

More impressions this week:

Thanks Sir Carlo! I guess if it's placed in light-controlled room, then it will be fine, am I correct?

Also, how's the IR of the unit? I love playing 2k10 (and eventually 2k11) for around 3 hours per day...would it hurt this plasma?

Yes, you'll be fine!

Just like any plasma do expect some I.R after 3 hours of play but it will go away after playing new content.

@E-Reply

The reflections are really a drawback, however, like I said it gives you a "glossy" picture that's good for cable and for some it's even more "lively".

I'll try to wrap this up within the week, a few more tests here and there...

Again my thumbs up to Vic for another smooth transaction!

bro carlo i also think essential ang reflective screen sa PQ ng plasma.  it adds vibrance sa colors, just like laptops nowadays.  i mean, if you were to compare laptops from the past, di mo pagtyagaan manood ng movies dun or even view pictures.  ;D

Hehe, I get a lot of PM's regarding the reflectivity of the X20. I asked my wife to take more pictures of the model. So people could see for themselves just how reflective the unit is!

Ultimately, though, I suggest a trip to your local shop so we could see it for ourselves...

More pics later, should comitatus be free.

Is this unit more reflective then your 50c10?  How does it compare in general?

Hi kenny

The difference is the fact that the C10 has a color management option that gives you stronger, yet inaccurate colors, hence the "illusion" that the C10 seems better.

During picture tweaks, you'd switch off color enhancements, after which, you'll see that the X20 has
more accurate colors.

Reflections, however, seems worst on the X20 :D

1)Daylight
2)Dark room

Some game tests, also.
