Topic: Recommended for Amp for wharfedale 8.4 & 8.1

I'm a newbie from this forum and I have just purchased a slightly used speaker sets from whafedale (8.4 and 8.1) a Jbl center speaker and a wharfedale sub. I want to set-up a decent home theater system majority for watching movies and occasional music listening. What receiver and dvd player would I pair for the speaker system. I have seen a lot of receivers for sale in the classifieds but I'm not so sure if they will fit the speaker system that I recently bought. Thanks

Sorry sir, sana malipat sa amplifier section  anyways, my budget is maximum at 15k, features na kailangan ko is for a decent cinema sound with appropriate treble and bass for a 15-sq meter room. I just want to make use of my recently acquired set of speakers. Kung baga yung recommended amplifier for the feature that i need using the said speakers...thanks in advance mga sirs

Sorry sir, sana malipat sa amplifier section  anyways, my budget is maximum at 15k, features na kailangan ko is for a decent cinema sound with appropriate treble and bass for a 15-sq meter room. Sa brand new, Pioneer VSX-520-K and Onkyo TX-SR308 ang papasok sa budget. Both are HD Audio capable current-model receivers.

Tingin ka din sa mga used, may mga good buy diyan for sure.

Receivers these days are basically pre-pro controllers with mediocre power amps thrown in for free.  Don't expect them to drive your speaker, or any speaker for that matter, in the best possible way.   But not to worry, they do the job.  Just never the best.

nakabili ka na ba? if you want a decent ht system then you've made a wrong start. why? your main speakers must be of same brand and series. ok na sana ang 8.4 & 8.1 kaso jbl ang center mo. many said yammies ang magandang match sa wharfs. why? matalas ang tunog ng yammies at muddy naman ang wharfs. actually, any amp will do as long as satisfied ka. ganyan din ako dati. patanong-tanong. many said wharfs are bang for the buck! but i say otherwise. why? through audition. hindi ako natuwa. pigil ang tunog. may pagka ngongo pa. no offense sa mga wharf lovers/owners ha in fact wharfs (valdus 100) ang surround ko pero hindi ngongo. iba pa rin talaga na ikaw mismo ang makarinig. ang gamit ng kuya ko 8.1 + center of same series & yamaha at ok naman. maganda (para sa akin). hth

Thanks sir sa inputs..naka bili na ako ng speakers pero hindi pa ako nakaka bili ng receiver, may mga tinatanong din ako pero iba iba ung recommendations nila kaya hindi ko pa ma finalize ang decision ko..naging impulse buyer ako akala ko nung sinabing floor stander ok na..may mga compatibility factors din pala na cconsider..

Ikabit mo muna sa receiver and tignan mo kung papano tutunog for you. Iba iba naman ang taste ng mga tao.

Hindi naman ganun ka-daunting mag-match ng Diamonds, baunin mo yung 8.1 if you want, tutal maliliit lang. In the end makakahanap ka siguro ng receiver for you. Yung center mo lang baka kelangan din palitan ng ka-match in the long run para uniform ang front stage mo. Pero for now, kumuha ka muna ng AVR to drive your speakers.
