thanks.

5.1 is 6 channels. The .1 is another channel.

I think it has something to do with bitrate, the older DD decoding chips can only do 448kbps as this is the standard maximum for DVD, while the new ones can do 640kbps which is the maximum standard for DD tracks in BD.   If the mkv or m2ts files used this newer DD track, you may have a problem using older decoders.

now, you're talking just like me  :D

i owned a dsp-a1 before i upgraded to 659. ang ganda ng itsura at tunog. just wanted to experience more than this a1 can offer. 7.1 that is pero actually, 6.1 lang ang setup ko ngayon. gaano man kaganda since meron namang affordable preowned new models, so why not coconut.  ;)

Pupunta din tayo dyan ;)

I think it's quite true, pansin ko hirap ang receiver ko kapag nasa 640kbps ang bitrate ng movie... but i'm still doing some testing, what a busy weekend :)

Mga Bro, question po ulit...

Since wala pa akong budget for a new receiver, i have downloaded a Pavtube M2ts converter and a TSmuxer...

1. Ano pa ba pwedeng gamitin na m2ts to mkv converter aside from Pavtube? Trial version lang kasi yung na-download ko and may lumalabas na "PavTube" sa gitna ng movie while playing, nakaka-destruct sa panonood...

2. When Converting to mkv (using Pavtube), anong setup ba ang recommended? Humihina kasi ang audio once na-convert from ac3 to aac, kahit naka max na yung audio bitrate to 448000 (bps). Ano din recommended na settings sa video kasi sobrang laki ng file once na-convert to mkv, example is my 4gig Kungfu Hustle, naging 13gig sya...

3. Using TSmuxer naman... under Tracks, papaano ko papalitan yung AC3 to AAC? di kasi sya namo-modify e... and under Output naman, may mga selection dito na
      a) TS Muxing
      b) M2TS Muxing
      c) Bluray Disk
      d) AVCHD Disk
      e) Demux

I hope you can help me mga sir, Thanks in advance :)

I don't have all the answers to your question.  All I can say is mkv has a smaller overhead  so that it should have a smaller file size than an m2ts on a 1 to 1 conversion.   Bear in mind that both m2ts and mkv are just container files independent of what video codec is used.  So your conversion might have converted the content codec in the m2ts to a less efficient one inside mkv.  You might have converted an H.264 codec to MPEG2.  I suggest you DO NOT re-encode the video, just the audio and convert the container file.

Also, m2ts files often have more files than you need, like subtitles or foreign language files but if your m2ts file is already 4GB, if this is a 720p file, I think it's already stripped to the bare minimum.  So it should result in a smaller mkv file  But not by a lot, You might be able to bring it down to a few megabytes.

My understanding when you click Start Muxing is that all the audio and video files will be mixed inside your mkv file.  I think you will have to demux the audio file from the m2ts container before converting it to another format, say from DD True HD to ordinary DD (AC3)  from from DD to AAC.   And then mux it again with the video file using the same apps.

I also don't think your TSMuxer is a file converter.  You will need another software to convert the demuxed audio file into another format.  Or if it has a coverting capability, it might be disabled because it's a freebie.

lastly, can't you simply download the same title in mkv?

That's weird, my Kungfu Hustle became 13gig when i convert it from m2ts to mkv... i'll try to convert the audio track only.

Is there a good converter ba, yung cracked na? my pavtube is a trial version only so may lumalabas na pavtube while playing the movie, nakaka-destruct though maliit lang sya pero nasa gitna palagi until the end of the movie...

what's the size of the m2ts file?  if smaller than 13GB, ang liit naman yata non?  If bigger than 13GB, I think tama lang na lumiit to 13GB when you compress.

A 4GB full length Kung Fu Hustle in m2ts?  That's even more surprising to me.

Just download the 4GB 720p version in mkv.  I thought you were trying to convert something like 20GB-40GB of m2ts to mkv.

Yes thats right, only a 4gig m2ts file... i just want to test if this conversion will solve my audio playback issues on some of my m2ts files... and they did :)

though humina nga lang ng mga 40 percent yung audio when converted to mkv at lumaki pa yung file :(

Just take note that the bitrate in English AC3 is 640 kbps and your Yamaha DSP A1 will not not be able to process this as it only has a maximum of 448 kbps.  But the Italian language is just fine.   ;D

Reynold have you tested with pure BD rips in BDMV (m2ts streams inside) having 20GB-50GB in size?

Or, are all your m2ts files around 4GB only?  (These sounds rather exotic to me, much like some mp4 in high def - which means if your answer to the question above is a "NO", I dont think the A1 is the problem).

Haven't tried big files sir wala po kasi akong m2ts files na malaki e, mostly m2ts files ranging from 4 to 6 gig in size lang... How will i know if these m2ts files of mine are mp4 in high def only?

Reynold's m2ts file is a 720p file which was obviously down converted from the original 1080p BDAV file.

The torrent site I was looking at showed me that the source Kung fu hustle original 1080p BDAV is only about 17GB using MPEG2 video with 6-channel LPCM, and DD/DTS audio.  Converting it to 720p using a more efficient H.264, AVC or MPEG4 codec will bring the video file to a third of its file size.  Taking out the LPCM and DTS tracks leaving only the DD track will further reduce file size by another 1GB more or less.  That should yield about 5GB.  You could lower the video bitrate, frame rate and take out the subtitles and other languages so that a 4.GB file or even lower can be achieved on either mkv or m2ts.

If the retained DD track was 640kps, the DSP A1 will have difficulty decoding as earlier decoders were maxed out at 448kbps.

Haven't tried big files sir wala po kasi akong m2ts files na malaki e, mostly m2ts files ranging from 4 to 6 gig in size lang... How will i know if these m2ts files of mine are mp4 in high def only?

Sabi mo you dont have any problems with MKV container diba?  So would that include MKVs containings DD0.64mbps or DTS1.5mbps audiostream? If you dont experience sound problems with MKVs containing the said audiostreams, then there must be something special contained in the 4GB m2ts.  Check mo sa Mediainfo your MKVs na walang problem and lalabas agad ang details about audiostream including bitstream.

First thing that comes to my mind when I read m2ts is pure BD rip.  Hence, I thought you were testing something like that.   I personally have not played a full length movie in m2ts the size of 4GB only.   So I suggest you visit E-Home and ask them to lend you any test pure BD rip in BDMV structure containing m2ts files, or, a BD ISO file.   Any of these should contain an HD audiostream.  If you can manage to output DTS core 1.5mbps from DTSHDMA, then that would make you HAPPY about your A1.  hehehe.

Kung wala sa Ehome, hopefully your friendly fellow member has one.  I guarantee you meron mga members in Manila na meron - but I cant name names...hehehe.   Last option would be to wait until around Jan 2011 unless the wife tells me that she has a BD ISO. hehehe

Reynold, meron sa bahay sa Pasig na BD Iso. 23GB big in m2ts container with DTSHD audiostream - (lumalabas na DTS sa Yamaha 757 using the Mede8er; using the A200 lumalabas na DTSHD sa Info pero DTS lang ang kaya ng AX1).  In case wala kang makuhang pang-test ng A1 kay Anchit.  Magdala kalang ng balde or pinggan or tuppeware para paglagyan.  Hehehe
