Cougar Town
« on: Sep 13, 2010 at 09:43 PM »
I've seen some episodes of Courteney Cox's show Cougar Town and found it hilarious--the characters are played by a good cast ensemble that works well together, and thanks to the writing, delivers their lines with just the right timing. I think the actor who plays Cox's son gives the best one-liners.  ;D

My only problem with this show is that I can never seem to pin down its schedule; I'd see it occasionally in bits, never the entire thing. And I can't remember where I viewed it, if it's on Star TV or that meh Velvet channel, LOL

It airs on both channels. I also liked how the show progressed but with how the season ended, it has veered away from the theme of cougars and turned into an older version of FRIENDS. But that's okay, too, especially loved  the hilarious guest appearance of Lisa Kudrow! ;D

I read (barely) an article that outlined why Cougar Town is so much like Scrubs in so many ways. I just couldn't find the link to it, sayang!! *kicks myself*

All I remember is that in the article, Barb is the Dr. Kelso of the series...and Ellie & Andy's neighbor is parang si Ted.

Love this show. Love the jokes. Love it more because I love the accessories the women wear. ;D And because the writing staff is mosty female, the only TV show in the US with that many female writers. ;)

I love Barb. The only real cougar on the show. Ako naman I read somewhere how people are comparing the characters to the cast of FRIENDS...it's a stretch kasi dumb  and uptight characters are staple in comedies.

I love Barb. The only real cougar on the show.

True! In every sense. ;D Sana they would do an episode where it's mostly her.

Towards the end of Season 1 it did feel like Friends nga. But I don't mind. And am waiting for Matthew Perry to visit. The girls have done it na kasi. Was so glad to see Jen Aniston the other week.

Barb is the Dr. Kelso of the series...

Speaking of Dr. Kelso, Ken Jenkins is slated to guest star on Cougar Town as Jules' father, and Bill Lawrence has mentioned he wants the other Scrubs stars to do appearances as well.   ;D

Last night's Halloween episode was the best yet, with so many good moments. Ken Jenkins guest stars as Chick, Jules dad. The costumes of Bobby, Ellie, Laurie, Grayson, Andy, and Travis were hilarious, and Barb returns.  ;D

Abed Nadir's favorite TV series is returning on ABC this February 14, 2012. However, just like Abed's show, Cougar Town's fate is uncertain; the 3rd season was set to premiere last November 2011 but was moved to January 2012, then pulled off the ABC mid-season schedule until a February date was finally set. It also got an episode order cut to only 15 episodes--not a good sign.

New season's episodes 1 and 2 are out. Still funny. I don't know if it's because I missed them but I chuckled a lot. The characters are getting so crazy i love it!

This season is turning out to be really good--the 5th episode, which featured the Tom Cruise-karate chop-running bit, was freaking hilarious, and the mini-Scrubs reunion during the closing credits was priceless.  :D

You mean main characters? Wayne Brady is Barney's brother on HIMYM.

I still watch it--even though the 4th season premiere was kinda meh, the succeeding episodes became better, with the last two episodes being directed by Courteney Cox herself.

I LOL'd at younger Travis and when they mentioned his square head.

Cougar town renewed for a 5th season! Last week's episode had too many things going on. But this week's episode is back in fine form. Though kinda ironic that they were celebrating getting old with their botoxed faces

Omg! Good thing cougar town is still on air. Matthew Perry has not had the same luck with his shows.

Courtney has a lot of botox because she's afraid of high def cameras.

Last week's episode with Matthew Perry was excellent. The chemistry between him and Cox should be bottled.

I won't bother watching this week's episode, though.

yup, still like it--I always watch this right after watching shows filled with crime and violence, to lighten the mood.

So, the season finale...I was kind of expecting this, given Busy Philipps' maternal status last year. The episode was directed by Courteney Cox, who directed 3 of the 13 episodes this season, while her co-stars Brian Van Holt and Josh Hopkins made their directorial debuts this season, directing one episode each.

But is this the end? No announcement yet from TBS if it's being renewed.
