2010 Xmas Flat Panels picks (Done! Merry Xmas)
« on: Dec 02, 2010 at 03:10 PM »
In reply to numerous PMs for a Christmas suggestion, here are my basic picks:

T.V 42+ and 50

1)Panasonic V20 - Still the best T.V for over-all performance
2)Toshiba XL700 - LED is looking very good with this baby
3)Panasonic X20 - Accurate colors, though reflective, it's still a great buy (A winner in the price to performance race)
4)Panasonic C10 - Last years model! If you can still find one, it's a powerful performer! Even besting the LG460 in the area of color rendition (Needs a controlled lighting environment to appreciate)
5)Sony EX700/EX600 - One of the best looking LCDs, we've come across! The only downer is the ridiculous price! If you can afford it, go for it!

More later ;)

@roy128

They're on the 32 inches, which I will post later.

@donpaloy

The X20 is also good for PS3 gaming

@jonm

The C10 is by nature reflective, that's why we need to watch it in a room with lower lights.

@crazyhog

That particular Samsung will be at number 7 (if my picks would be on a top ten basis), with the C650 at number 6.

More top five later:

1)32inch (over-all)
2)Top picks just for gaming
3)Top picks for movies

 ;)

@Ninja

Not into dragon ball brader si Yuri lang ;)

@crazyhog

The S10 (Plasma) is not a very good unit for me, PQ is unusually soft even for a 1080p Plasma. My last review of the S10 was not too favorable.

The 460 is better than the C530 in-terms of color reproduction. My only gripe with the 460 is it's inconsistent quality...I do have a good number of PMs re: 460 backlight bleed.

Again and for the record...

Screen uniformity is an LCD issue, and can affect any model and brand. It's just that LG seems to have it more often.

For the 32 inches here we go!

My picks if budget is not a concern

1)Sony 32NX500 - Great for Blu-ray and dvd. PS3 gaming is a blast
2)Samsung 32C650 - A worthy successor to the well received A650

-The Sony and Sammy models above are a bit on the pricey side but for PQ - They look really good.

The next 4 (All of which are well priced with good to very good picture quality)

1)LG 32460
2)Samsung 32C530
3)Toshiba 32RV600
4)Panasonic 32X20

Next up the budget lines

;)

Very much welcomed guys!

For gaming I'd take on the following: (BUDGET NOT AN ISSUE)

1)Sony NX500 or EX600 PS3 games look very crisp!

When you're more of the Xbox 360 fan, so far the best TV I've seen with the 360 is:

2)Samsung C650

A very good alternative to the Sony and Samsung is a LED T.V from Toshiba:

3)Toshiba XL700

If you're not on a budget and gaming is TOP priority for you, the TVs above will give you the best possible gaming experience (my very subjective opinion)

Next up (Gaming and movies and over-all T.Vs on a budget)

Gaming on a budget:

These units are not as good as those I mentioned above, but they can also hold they're own and won't burn your wallet:

1)LG460
2)Toshiba RV600*
3)Samsung C530

*The RV600 has a very pleasant picture for games, and they do look like those expensive LCD based arcade systems. However, mild motion blur was seen during FPS games.

Movies and TV on a budget next...

i DIG you in here.. the best talaga 'tong ex600 even without the motionflow ex500 and ex700 had. medyo in doubt lang ako sa nx500 dahil sa second glass panel nya, but it looks really cool talaga, ganda ng design kapag naka-off siya. but instead of nx500, i prefer ex400, almost same specs lang siya, hindi mo pa kelangan problemahin yung glare.

Hi Sir Carlo, what would be the potential issues if the ex600 would be used for the xbox 360? (I am just curious coz' it might be because it's a Microsoft console...hehe)
