@abcerase

No issue, with the EX600 for the Xbox ;)

About the C650 and the 360, it's just that the somewhat bright nature of the Samsung goes well with the MS console.

@mikeserraon

Sony may be pricey, but yes they have very good stuff - Especially the high end models!

Thanks sir! One more question: which is better: EX600 or XL700 in terms of 60% gaming, 40% movies?

Almost like a coin toss situation here, but I'd go for the EX600!

Wow! I wasn't expecting that -- it would definitely stir a game changer for my recommendations to my officemate :)

finally, someone like me still believes in the best -- sony! yes, xl700 may have 100hz clearscan, but for me, it's not necessary for hd movies. otherwise, it will look like "the bold & the beautiful", "marimar", etc.. got my point? yes, soap opera type. for movies, it's the 24p mode, vivid and good contrast are important. i always turn-off the motionflow on my 32ex500 everytime i watch movies. so yeah, i tag with carlo on ex600.. go BE 3, if you know what i mean.. :D

I guess the reason Sony is not as much as a game-changer because of it's high price tag here in the philippines...but since it's price is getting competitive (thanks to the reseller here at PDVD), it would be given back the attention that it had (i remembered my father buying a 52+ Sony Rear Projector TV more than a decade ago from Sights and Sounds rin...it conked out on us 2 years ago...sana nowadays ganun pa rin ka-reliable ng mga electronics...but I guess it's very different now)

Budget units for movie use:

1)Panasonic 42X20 (I heard that there are units that cost only 29k! No brainer! Plasma is still the best for cable and DVD)
2)Toshiba 32AV700 (For less than 20k!, this is a competent  LCD with very good colors for both cable and dvd)
3)Toshiba 32CV700 (For 20K! This is great! Colors are more natural, less eye strain, and a cable booster! This is actually a better buy than the AV700 if your cable signal is weak)

Best units for your typical...

"Wala na ako pera, and magugutom ang pamilya ko pag bumili ako ng T.V this X-mas! But gusto ko pa din ng T.V"

1)Toshiba AV700 (Less than 20k! Very good for cable, dvd and even blu-ray! Toshibal colors are more natural and easy on the eye)
2)Avision 32AL58 (For a brand that does not ring a lot of bells, this performs well!)

That's it for now mga bossing! I'll be answering more specific questions as time permits, sorry for not answering PMs in a timely fashion. I'm also a moderator for a gaming site plus a lot of real world work thrown in.

Have a Christ centered Christmas and don't forget to thank him for these new toys ;)

Sir Carlo, did you get a chance to view the LG32-LD340?  I would be interested to know how it will perform against the other models mentioned above.

What's a good lcd (32-37in will do, for a room lang naman) with PIP and good picture quality for xbox games (something like LG's 120Hz Trumotion)?  Built in media player with mkv would be good too.  Is there such a model that you guys can recommend?  Thanks!

Picks for those with a lot of money to burn (Movies and games)

1)Pioneer KRP 500P/600P
-No doubt, this is the best TV for movies bar none! Deep and gorgeous blacks, well defined colors, not really my favorite for games but I'll peg this at number one for being the yardstick for all TVs to follow.
2)Sony EX710
-Razor sharp definition for blu-ray and games! Not the best for dvd though but a top dollar performer.
3)Samsung C650
-Samsung may not be the best for lower end models, but up the ladder - They deliver a cutting edge LCD with the C650!
4)Panasonic V20
-The great multi-use performer! Stellar for movies wether it's for DVD or Blu-Ray. The high susceptibility for image retention may be a concern for gamers.
5)Toshiba XL700
-For it's price, and for blu-ray and games this is a solid performer.

 ;)

C series of Panasonic appears too grainy for me. For Panasonic LCDs the best I've seen is the S10 (LCD) model. But it's not within "budget" price and is an older model.

since recommended mo yung cv/av ng toshiba, ok ba sya sa xbox360 gaming? nabanggit kasi ni sir vic sa kabilang thread na mas ok daw yung ld360 for gaming dahil mas mabilis yung response time.

For gaming I'd recommend the RV series of Toshiba, the CV is known to have minor motion blurs during first person shooting games. But the colors are very good, I haven't seen the LD360

@abcerase

I haven't seen the LE7500...Are the models you mentioned for gaming? If so, I'd like to emphasize my current recs for this particular use.

Di ka pa rin bumibili abcerase?  2011 na in 3.5 weeks and next year, iba na naman ang selections mo but you'd still be facing the same dilemma.

Di ba budget mo is for a V20, so I suppose at least 60K pesos ang budget.  I definitely think you need a plasma AND an LCD. So might as well get the 42X20 or 42C10 for 30K for your movies, AND find another 30K LCD - dami mo nang choices non.   Solb diba?

How does the P42A20 compare to the P42X20? The A20 is pricier by Php 2,000

Btw, I got these prices from somewhere I don't remember...

TH-P42X20 - Php 52,900

TH-P42A20 - Php 54,900

Yes! Just like any plasma do mix gaming with other uses like cable and dvd.

Reviewing your posts boss, I'd say you'd be happier with a Tosh XL700.
