@markuzbrutuz

Well there are three things we have to consider when we buy a T.V

1)Contrast Ratio
2)Color Accuracy/Reproduction/Saturation
3)Resolution

Do note that in the first 2 areas (Contrast/Color) the X20 is ahead of the C530. Only in the area of resolution does the 530 gain ground. For movies, contrast and color will play a pivotal role in the performance department, only in digital games will resolution take precedent over the later.

That's the reason why Plasma is usually the format of choice of Movie/Film enthusiast. I'm not saying we diss the 530 as the X20 has it's own issues like being reflective and drawing more power.

Ultimately, we have to see for ourselves which format suits our taste.

If you don't mind a reflective screen then the X20 is the better choice. One point though, movies with a lot of digital effects also look good on LCDs.

I've read that X20 is only 720p and hd-ready, won't his be a disadvantage against full hd 1080p?

Thanks

Hi sir Carlo, do we also have some recommendations for the mid-range prices -- for those people who would like to spend their money on a TV but "not that much"...(45k - 50k)?
i'm not sir carlo, pero, 45k-50k is a good price range if you're looking for 32in models only.. cguro, kapag 40in up.. for 45-50k budget, you can buy high end 32in models like sony 32ex600, samsung 32c650.. i don't know about other brands, biased ako sa dalawang yan eh.. ;D tsaka, dapat sinabi mo kung saan mo siya mostly gagamitin.. like me, i'll definitely use it only for bluray or dvd kaya i'm planning for Panasonic TC-P42U2, full hd plasma. kaya lang nasa 50-60k pa siya, tv lang.. gusto ko bundle kaya hinahabol ko yung P42x20 sa SNS kahit 720 lang xa.. the rest, i can buy for high end home theater..

sir carlo, ask ko lang yung prob ng c530.. baka kasi ndi ako makakuha nung p42x20 sa SNS, baka maubusan ako.. tanong ko lang kung madalas bang magka-prob ung c530 about dun sa nababasa kong may green color na nasa screen compared sa backlight bleeding problem ng ld460?? or sa 40in lang siya, pati 32in din b? isolated lang ba siya? i mean, mga 1:100 units? or nangyayari lang siya kapag more than 8hrs everyday ang gamit mo sa kanya?? TIA!! :D additional question sir carlo, which is better ht-c453 or ht-c555? thanks!!

2010 CHRISTMAS BEST SELLER TV

Panasonic:
Plasma
TH-P42X20 P29500. with In-housewarranty
Available at Sights and Sounds 4th level Shangri-La Plaza. Tel. 634-1789 to 90.
sir vic, how is the process works if in case i'd like to upgrade my lg 37ld460 to this unit. i bought it from your store with the same price less than a month ago? naka AVR po since day1. please let me know as i'm very interested.

sir carlo, would you think it's a better decision? mostly for cable viewing and movies. hindi ko kasi masyado gusto color ng ld460 sa cable though understandably naman kasi i'm currently subscribed to an analog CATV. pero i've heard na mas superior ang plasma in these fields.

thanks

Please help me decide...

Which would you pick among these: Panasonic Plasma 42v20, Samsung LED 40C6900 or LG LED 42LE5500?

Will be used mostly for watching TV and movies (thru BD player & NMT) in my room.

@Billabong

I haven't seen the Samsung LED, and I know the LG (though good) has some viewing angle limitations, so I'd have to go for the V20.

@abcerase

Toshiba CV700 and RV600 both having very good color definition under 50k. The 42 LG460 is also a great mid-range choice.

@Heartbreak Kid

Plasma is still the best for cable T.V

I have question  :)

Between the LG 32LD460 and the Samsung LA32C550, which is preferred? I heard LG's LD series is notorious for its backlight bleed issue and Samsung also has that green tint/screen thing suddenly cropping up (and kind of expensive as well).

How prevalent are these issues?

@abcerase

I haven't tested the U20 yet ;)

@Dan

After testing a number of LCDs, I observed that some problems are more frequent than others. The 460 seems to have backlight bleeds more often than Sammys having "green tint" issues.

Warranty should cover you well. Don't worry about these things, test your TV extensively while they're still covered.

Some TVs have quirky units when they are shipped! My Panasonic had a power issue and dead pixels(LX80), A Samsung unit of mine (A550) had HDMI problems, and some have been functioning for years without hitch (Samsung R8, Panasonic PV70)!

^ Thanks for the insight, dude. I have my sights set on the Samsung now. The big draw of the LG was its cheaper price but I think I'm more comfortable with my decision at this point.

Hello Carlo,

Might be getting a Sony EX710 after a few months of waiting. The only review I saw on it said that it was better than the 6 series Samsung in terms of input lag for video games.

Might get the 46" version. Any input or experience with either?

Thanks!

Bought this at SnS just last week and so far i'm very satisfied with it. Using it for playing PS3 Games, Watching DVD. Also connected to my Laptop to play HD MKV's AVI though via RGB only so i'm not maximizing the Full HD capability of the LCD when playing using my laptop(i guess i need to upgrade to a newer laptop).

I'm not an LCD expert but so far so good and very happy and satisfied with it.

Feedback from Japanese (compared with EX700)

EX700 Panel:  Japanese Sharp
EX710 Panel:  Korean Samsung (racist?  hehehe)

At around 45 degrees, the EX710 is reported to be losing contrast compared to EX700.  The general description of the EX710 image quality is,  nagiging "maputi" masyado (hello Samsung tech) whilst the EX700 has excellent overall contrast even at wide angle of viewing.  Then when viewed from the front, the EX710 IQ is said to be darker (dimmer LED backlighting perhaps due to lower power consumption??).

However, the EX710 has a very stylish design - if that is relevant to you, and power consumption is lower by about 30%.   Do note however that such 30% is relative to an already low power consumption by the previous EX700.  Hence, although 30% sounds BIG, the actual Peso savings per month would probably be around the price of a regular burger only.

Anyway, the overall grades of the EX710 thus far are not that good, mainly due to its panel/IQ.  Please check out the EX700 too - that has been a remarkably popular and highly rated model for 2010.

That seems contrary to most of the posts regarding the same EX700 vs EX710 on the avs forums. Funny, I was thinking of comparing the two and the weakest link, according to the AVS people, was the AUO? panel used in the 700 compared to the Samsung panel. The Samsung having less clouding and defects thats why they suddenly moved to a new 710 series despite the 700 being out only for a few months.

For those who weren't able to keep up with that, according to the reviews on the net and AVS people, clouding was more prominent on the EX700 series on the 46 above compared to the 710.They said it was the panel they were using, the sharp, was more defective than the Samsung panel, thats why they weren't able to last six months before they had to push out a new model.

No beef with your review dude, I appreciate the different points of view, just trying to find the best set that will last me. Especially since 150k plus or minus is a lot to spend on one go.

Have you been able to compare them side by side? Do you feel, price not being an issue, there is a substantial PQ difference between a Samsung brand LED equivalent and the Sony?
