Finally had the chance to unpack the SCS speakers today.
I have had them since last Saturday, Dec. 18th and it is only now that I have been given time to set these babies.
The most recent Audessey calibration made was last Dec. 15th. Since I got the SBS-01's last Dec. 4th, I made them my main front speakers. My center and surrounds remained to be the Infinity's. I could not believe my ears when I heard the sound coming from the SBS. They were way better than my floorstanding Infinity's.
This is what made me decide to bite the bullet and got myself the SCS center and mains.
I just had to have them...and have them FAST!
My plan is to wallmount these babies, however, I have not found the right bracket at this time.
So what I did was, I placed them on the floor, on top of my Auralex Mopads.
They look awkward being on the floor the way they are, but it will do for now.
Out of the box...plugged and fired on!
First up...Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City Music Hall. My jaw dropped and was speechless with what I heard. I never had anything that sounded this good until now. It sounded like Dave and Tim were just playing live in front of me "in the same room." The sound of the acoustic guitars were very detailed. You can hear every squick, every strum of the guitar in detail like nothing I have heard before. I used to play this same material using the Infinity floorstanders, and it did not sound anything like it sounded with the SCS speakers. And to top it all, the calibration used was that of the SBS and Infinity's. I am wondering what the entire set would sound like after I calibrate them once they are properly set-up.
Unfortunately, this was the only file I tested today. The experience left me in awe that I decided to watch every bit of the material due to it's overwhelming sound quality.
I will provide more impressions as I go along...and hopefully, post pics as well soon!
Guys, these speakers are fantastic! I highly recommend that you give yourselves the chance to audition them. If you are looking for great sounding speakers, you don't need to go looking around for one anymore. There is a place called GRACELAND...and I asure you, you will not leave empty handed.
