brader hope this help, Audyssey calibrates base on room modes, room acoustic properties and the whole environment. Results may differ from one setting to another. Based on Audyssey site, firts that we adjust is the subwoofer gain so we can get a level calibration on the receiver between -3db and+3db. Any gain setting in the subwoofer itself that results in this parameter, is the ideal setting based on Audyssey. Please note though that the resulting parameters has a basis, which they call REFERENCE. This basis is a result of experimentations done by THX laboratories and Audyssey. at least based on how I udnerstood the write up about it. For you to enjoy(again based on REFERENCE) the benifits of the resulting data after calibration, your listening level should be pegged at 0db or 82 db for those using absolute value( hope i dont get it mixed up). AT this listening level, you will reap the benifits of the results of your calibration. More often that not, we are not satisfied with the result after calibration becasue we have preferred setting conceived already prior to calibration or preferred setting becasue you have gotten used to it. These scenario would now make you decide to alter the results after calibration according to what suits you. When you do this, Audyssey will now be set at PREFERENCE and this is not how Audyssey was intended to be.

Your subwoofer set to 8 o' clock resulting to 0dbd after calibration means that at REFERENCE listening level, you would achieve the sound calibration the way Audyssey measured it and not the way you PREFERRED it. There are people who likes REFERENCE setting and thus, makes little if not none at all adjustments in the resulting parameters after Audyssey calibration.

In my case, I have always done Audyssey to ensure that I have the correct speaker distance because this is very important in ensuring that sounds coming from the sepeakers arrives at your ear at listening postion accurately and in syncrhronicity with one another. If this is done improperly, sound arrival maybe delayed in relation to one another thus, SQ is muddied. Having said so, this is the only result that I maintain after calibration.

I have also learned from other pdvd members and readings that if the resulting cross overs are 60 hz and above, it is recommended not to change it. I have always gotten lower than 60 hz so I change it to 80 as THX recommended setting. The LPF of the LFE is recommended at 120 hz, which I always get so no problem.

In the level calibration, i usally get - dbs, which I find to low at my listening level of 65 db thus I change it to 3 db higher for all channells except the subwoofer. Doing this would essentially be similar to increasing the listening level by a few dbs.

Another aspect I have learned from pdvd mebers too is running your subwoofer 6 db hotter for better integration wiht the rest of the speaker channels. This simply means that whatever level calibration I get after doing Audyssey for the subwoofer, I increase it by 6dbd. Considering I have already increased all chnnels by three, I am essentially running my system at 3db hotter.

Room size is just one factor that drives the result after Audyssey. Having the same room size as the other does not mean you will have the same or essentially the same result as like I said above, room modes, acoustic properties and the whole listening environment affects this.
thanks for sharing bro.  masubukan nga ang 3db hotter na yan  :)
interesting  :)
btw saw the 1/2 traps already  :D

1. ask Mike ;)
2. ask in svs subwoofer thread kasi svs speaker thread eto eh  :D Kaya nga pinaghiwalay na ni sir Mike eh ;D

OT: alam ko hindi ata pwedeng pagsabayin ang hindi magkaparehong sub. Naturally, I could be wrong ::)

Finally had the chance to unpack the SCS speakers today. :) I have had them since last Saturday, Dec. 18th and it is only now that I have been given time to set these babies. ;)

The most recent Audessey calibration made was last Dec. 15th. Since I got the SBS-01's last Dec. 4th, I made them my main front speakers. My center and surrounds remained to be the Infinity's. I could not believe my ears when I heard the sound coming from the SBS. They were way better than my floorstanding Infinity's. :o

This is what made me decide to bite the bullet and got myself the SCS center and mains. ;) I just had to have them...and have them FAST! ;D

My plan is to wallmount these babies, however, I have not found the right bracket at this time. :-[  So what I did was, I placed them on the floor, on top of my Auralex Mopads. 8) They look awkward being on the floor the way they are, but it will do for now. :) Out of the box...plugged and fired on!

First up...Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City Music Hall. My jaw dropped and was speechless with what I heard. I never had anything that sounded this good until now. It sounded like Dave and Tim were just playing live in front of me "in the same room." The sound of the acoustic guitars were very detailed. You can hear every squick, every strum of the guitar in detail like nothing I have heard before. I used to play this same material using the Infinity floorstanders, and it did not sound anything like it sounded with the SCS speakers. And to top it all, the calibration used was that of the SBS and Infinity's. I am wondering what the entire set would sound like after I calibrate them once they are properly set-up. ::)

Unfortunately, this was the only file I tested today. The experience left me in awe that I decided to watch every bit of the material due to it's overwhelming sound quality. :)

I will provide more impressions as I go along...and hopefully, post pics as well soon! ;)

Guys, these speakers are fantastic! I highly recommend that you give yourselves the chance to audition them. If you are looking for great sounding speakers, you don't need to go looking around for one anymore. There is a place called GRACELAND...and I asure you, you will not leave empty handed. ;D
