HELP mga peeps.

i am using an SSS-01 bipole speakers hooked as side surrounds on the receiver but placed at the back corner of the room. now, i want to place them at the rear wall, directly opposite to the fronts. do i have to change the connection on the AVR to rear surrounds? read somewhere that the side surrounds has more material than the rears. i had plans to add a new pair of bookshelves soon to be used as front wide.

will this setup work?

rear speakers = bipole
front wide = bookshelves

please throw in your suggestions so i won't commit an expensive mistake :)

i think they call it surround speakers and surround back, probably the only reason why people are calling it side surround is becuase it is placed at the side wall but my undertansding is that you only have a surround and surround back/rear surround speaker.

if you intend to use your bipole as surround back speaker, you need to change the assignment in the receiver accordingly. my take is that if Im using a dipole speaker, the value of installing a surround back would not be that significant anymore, similar if im using a bipole. the surround back speaker provides the least impact as most of the time monopole speakers are used for this purpose at least based on my own experience

the front wide speakers created the most impact in my set up before though there are some people who says the front height serves them better than the front wide does. there is a mounting requirement for these speakers and ensuring this is observed will create the optimum listening experience.

i only have a surround bipole speakers placed at the back corner and no back surrounds. my plan is to cover the windows at the rear with acoustic panel and or diffuser to make my room a bat cave for PJ use. so, if direct firing bookshelves are required for the back surrounds then my SSS bipoles is of no use and can stay where they are at the back corner. i want only an extra pair for front wide to make up a 7.1 system.

can bipole work as front wide?

not really sure what will be the effect but most of the set I have seen uses direct radiating, I myself used the bookshelf variant of my FS for wide before.
