Two more weeks! Critics who got an early peek into the first episode were all praises. I hope it's going to be as powerful and as engaging as the book.

+1.. but since HBO is doing it... I have no doubt it will.  This will be a 10-episode series, right?

Lord, help me prove that winning the lottery won't spoil me !!

Yup. They're looking at this series to further strengthen their lineup. The HBO marketing guys are trying to pass this off as "Sopranos" for the fantasy set.

Great first episode. Very faithful to the tone and atmosphere of the book and the additions are well thought out. Direction's pretty awesome as well -- that scene on the hill where Ice will be first used was a breathtaking tableau.

I heard from my gf (whose been a fan of the book series for quite some time) that the first show got an IMDB score of 9.5. Pretty high!

From all the kwento I've received from her, I'm sure it'll be a good basis for a TV series. No character is flat and all are very three dimensional with no cliche story meaning there is no good or bad guy in the series, just self-interests and politics medieval fantasy style.

Can't wait to watch it!

Following strong critical and viewer response to the series' April 17 debut, HBO has renewed GAME OF THRONES for a second season.

Yeah.. second season would be A Clash of Kings...
I hope HBO won't pull the plug just like what they did with Carnivale   >:(

Great start! I love how the setting tones down (or focuses?) the fantasy elements to emphasize the human drama. Makes me want to read the books

The opening credits sequence was awesome--and it's supposed to change to reflect the storyline in future episodes.  8)

2nd episode was a bit of a disappointment to me. Parang the arcs they chose to follow in this one weren't very compelling and sometimes over-dramatized. Also, many of the "bad" characters (for lack of a better term) come across as caricature-ish. I hope that there's significant character development for them as the series goes along.

Also, why the heck are the dire wolves always out of sight until they're needed to protect their master? Is that how they operate? Parang they know waaaay beforehand when danger is about to happen and hide. Dunno, it just felt cheap by the 2nd time they executed it in this episode

That said, I think Peter Dinklage as Tyrion is awesome, and ironically doesn't let his stature get in the way of some honest to goodness acting. I hope he gets nominated for his performance at the very least.

oops klaus, there's already a thread for this.

i haven't read the books but i have seen 7 episodes. i've read somewhere that we shouldn't be too attached to any character because the author kills them off abruptly. i thought this would be like lord of the rings but with sex scenes. i was wrong. it's much more about political intrigue and the lust for power.

A Game of Thrones follows the books almost faithfully. Omissions were kept to a minimum and the additions in the series served to flesh out the characters even more. You're going to miss out on so much if you don't read the books because the writing's quite strong.

I've read the first book and I can say that the episodes are fairly accurate.

I did expect a few embellishments, but with the author also being a producer (and a writer for Episode 8 ), I'm sure these would be kept to a minimum.  I was happy to be proven right.

The Imp, in my opinion should be considered for an emmy nomination.... ;)

I haven't seen the tv-series but I've read the books..
hopefully HBO will continue the series and not end it abruptly.
I'll just wait for it to come out in DVD.

The best is yet to come, especially in Book 3.. major twists and deaths   :)

I'm glad a lot of people are enjoying the show and adding new readers to the series.
