Brader Jim,

Will suggest sa speaker level sana ang connection but the inherent hum from a tube amp would translate to a constant low frequency signal from the sub.

Kung walang lineout/sub out, why not put one on the amp?  :D At least line level yun papunta sa sub, hindi na dumaan sa tube amp. Yun nga lang void warranty mo sa tube amp for sure. Ano pala tube amp yan sir?

I used to have a Dared i30 and an AMX KT88 amp, which I connected via speaker level inputs to an A-Audio sub.  Did not notice any hum on the sub.  Stereophile also recommends speaker level out as the preferred input vs RCA sub outs, as this integrates better with the main speakers.

Brader Jim  ;D

Why not try speaker level input, but I suggest you don't do sub-sat connection. Amp to Main Speakers and Amp to Sub.

Good luck bro  ;)

pwede, pero parang redundant na yun Brader since the gain of the input section of your amp is already sufficient enough to drive it.

newbie question lang po Master J.

speaker level output [amp => main speakers  +  amp => sub]

hindi po ba the load impedance would be lower for the amp to drive ? say from 8 omega to 4 omega ?

iniisip ko din kasi iyan in case i config one of my integrated amps without line level sub out.

TIA  8)

Sir if I may, that's a sat-sub connection and ok lang sana yan if that's a pass thru, but in my experience with sub plate amps they always have a 6dB/octave hpf going to the main speakers in a form of a non-polar capacitor. But it is still a valid connection nonetheless po.  :)

Instead of the main speakers going through the plate amp, we just "sample" the signal by connecting a separate speaker wire from AVR/Amp to the sub's plate amp.  :)

Hi Doc,

The answer is NO. There wouldn't be a noticeable change in load impedance (in the Amp's point of view, at least) since all sub plate amps (including those cheap ones or diy) employs a form of speaker level to line level conversion circuit which has a relatively high impedance, too high to "touch" the main speakers actual impedance. It is safe Doc, go ahead and try it.  :)

welcome Brader anytime... ;)

if you have an SPL meter (hint: si sir Joey meron  ;)), and with the help of a calibration cd, you can configure your sub and main speakers to still attain an overall flat response across the band. Para hindi maging tunog car audio na pang SPL drag hehehe... (unless yun ang gusto mo pwede din naman  ;D ;D ;D)

Sa speakewr output din ako kumaha ng signal before i had a preamp. Speaker line output => L.O.D. => active crossover => sub amp => sub.
