The Spitfire Grill

Had the snapper DVD sealed for 5 years.
It's only now I had the patience to see it. Slow, kinda boring, grows on you a little and sad.

Ice Castles (2010)

-at the start, I felt that this was a bad remake of the original having unknown actors and riding on the theme song of the original "Looking Through The Eyes of Love". Since I had the fondness of watching ice skating movies since Cutting Edge, i had the urge to finish it through. The ending was a tear jerker as the original but Was still moved by the soundtrack rather than the acting. With a nice storyline, it is still a good watch.

-A movie doesn't have to be high budgeted to be interesting. The entire movie was just shot in a wooden coffin with Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) in it. With that small single space, I felt like I was buried alive with him. Ryan Reynolds marvelous acting just made me finish this movie and left me speechless at the end.

Friday Night Lights

I watched this movie more than 8times already

Its a good movie, Small Town, Big Dreams & Despairs. I never had it on Blu-Ray so watched it again last night on DVD

Let Me In

-Being promoted as a horror made my horror-movie-loving daughter watch this with me. Abby (Chloe Morentz) starred as a young girl vamp but the story didn't revolve around this concept. It was more of a juvenile love story between a bullied boy Owen and next door neighbor Abby (w/c by the way I wouldn't want my 7 year old to watch). Oh well, that was unexpected so we just finished it through.

That's just it...on to the next movie...

Spartacus: Blood and Sand

Now this is the very definition of gratuitous violence and nudity. I can't believe I put off watching this show in favor of some of the network TV crap I sat through last season. Was intending to watch it after Gods of the Arena, but luckily I couldn't wait that long.

Monsters

-I over expected from this movie. 90% of the movie you will just hear the sounds of the "creatures". There wasn't much visual stimulatIon as what I've anticipated. The title should've been "The Journey to the Non-infected Zone-A Love Story"

Everybody's Fine

-It protrays the life of a widower Frank (de Niro) whose kids are scattered around the continent having families of their own, life becomes lonely. When he invites all of them for the holidays, everybody gives a raincheck. What Frank did was to just go and visit each and everyone of his children discovering the lies they were giving to him. One of the best movies of Robert de Niro with such a very good supporting cast of Drew Barrymore (the Las Vegas dancer), Kate Bickensale (the ad exec) and Sam Rockwell (the orchestra drummer). This is one depressing movie and is guaranteed to make you cry. It is also a realization for the middle age viewer that once you get to old age, your children's priorities change and you will be at the bottom of that list.

This is one drama that I would highly recommend!

Silent Hill

it somehow remained true to the games. medyo bitin lang yung creepy atmosphere (something the game was really good at). still, it's a good story that leaves somethings still unresolved

-repeat viewing and still one of my best zombie horror movies! Love to see that guy in The Social Network again...still a nerd.

The Hangover

-the story was about 4 friends spending a bachelor night in Vegas. The day after, their hotel room was trashed and the groom-to-be was nowhere to be found. None of them had any recall of what happened the night before. I laughed my pants off in this one...go figure. This is one I would recommend of good replay value.

Dirty Sexy Money (2nd & Final Season)

Even the director and the scriptwriters may have been at a loss with all the twists and turns of season 2. No wonder it was discontinued. I liked Season 1 much, much better.

Good not great movie about the plot to kill Hitler.
Effectively tense but lacks any human connection with the characters.
Great casting and production.

The Last Exorcism

-the movie isn't as scary as the cover of the DVD. It is one of those movies taken-from-a-videocam-for-the-realistic-effect. The horror wasn't the one that pique my interest but the faux racket of that minister in doing the exorcism rites.

. If you are a fan of the original Linda Blair's Exorcist, you will sorely be disappointed. If you are nauseous about movies such as Blair Witch, Cloverfield and the like, I suggest you not watch this.

Taken

-this is one movie that I could watch over and over again. This is my 3rd time to watch this movie and it really has the adrenaline packed action factor of the Bourne series. Bryan Mills (Neeson) must be that good to kill all adversaries sustaining only a single gunshot. Has a very good replay value! Two thumbs up!

Speedracer

-also a repeat viewing. Storyline sucks but the visuals are simply stunning! The only joy I got was seeing my 2 year old boy jumping and cheering while watching this. One of those movies you'd play to demo your HT.
