The iTunes store is a good place to start. Or you can check out Mininova.org. There's also a firefox add-on called DownloadHelper which lets you download streaming videos (from youtube, vimeo, etc.).

the sites posted by @dan are sites where you have to pay for the movies.

if what you want are sites to free movies, just want to remind you that such discussions are not allowed in pdvd.  :)

Just iTunes. The rest are free covered by creative commons  :)

I think most of them are blocked here in the Philippines. Try iTunes.

hmmm.. i'm confused.. discussions about downloading free movies from the internet are not allowed but sharing /trading of mkv files are allowed?  aren't they the same banana?

Sharing these files outside of PDVD is one's prerogative.

Downloading movies in the NET doesn't necessarily mean piracy. You can buy downloadable media on the net.

the site does not allow members to share links and sites on where to get movies that are illegally obtained.

as per rules:

To sellers offering movie freebies and/or bundled software with their items:

Please be advised that your "freebies" must be original and legitimate, or else your listings will be deleted. Movies must come in their original packaging, and not be bundled as copies or backups.

Repeat offenders' accounts will be banned.

so in effect, we dont allow, but enforcing is easier said than done. but we try to enforce it by warning the sellers.

as for sharing i think @tempter said it already, we cant stop members if they have these movies and wants to share it with others.

Just to be clear, the sites I posted do not have illegal content. I find absolutely nothing wrong with buying downloadable content from the creators themselves or downloading content that is provided free, again, by their original creators.

Here's another one that provides free, legal and creative-commons covered video content: www.archive.org. This is where a copy of Orapronobis can be obtained. I posted a question on the IP status of Lino Brocka's work, though.

Here's one more:

oh yes, i know and understand that there are indeed free legal downloads.. of course, there's nothing wrong with that.  i know one can download and pay for them legally also.

well, i guess that clarifies things...

thanks. :)

on with the show... looking forward to more sites where we can download for free. :)
