To continue our 2010 X-Mas T.V picks, we'll jump to 2011 with our first round of choices:

LG 42LD460 at P38000.*
PRO: Balanced color; good black level; crisp and detailed picture.
AGAINST: Backlight bleeding from four corners disrupts the black bars that run along the top and bottom of the screen when watching a video.
VERDICT: A good high definition TV held back by backlight bleeding issue.

Panasonic TH-L42U20 at P38500.*
PRO: Vibrant color; impressive clarity and sharpness with bluray; excellent black level.
AGAINST: Lacks USB connectivity; TV suffers from occasional picture noise.
VERDICT: A very good TV with somewhat limited conectivity.

Samsung LA40C530 at P35500.*
PRO: Accomplished picture from most sources; adequate connectivity: 3 HDMI ports, USB port for picture and movie playback.
AGAINST: The standard-definition only tuner delivers coarse, noisy, and edgy picture; poor sound from built-in speakers; 'torch' bright picture requires the user to settle for less bright level picture setting. You need to have a grip on picture calibration. Otherwise, you lose the ideal color balance setting.
VERDICT: A compitent mid level/ middle ground LCD with good features.

Sony KVL-40BX400 with free DAV-TZ310 htib at P48000.*
PRO: Natural color; good definition and detail.
AGAINST: Color and black levels wash out dramatically when you watch the screen from the side; pricey compared to rival screen.
VERDICT: Excellent picture quality with a wanting viewing angle.

Toshiba 40AV700 with free AV Link Media Player at P38000.*
PRO: Fully loaded TV: auto signal booster to enhance standard-definition TV reception, 4 HDMI inputs and a USB port; built-in speakers sound reasonably dynamic and dramatic.
Realistic color; deep and insightful black level.
AGAINST: Dark scene reveals a touch of noise at times.
VERDICT: A model with accurate colors and excellent detail attention--plus the bonus of superior connectivity and functionality – Good "all-arounder"!

I've got good taste pala, yung 3 TVs na pinagpipilian ko kasama sa list - the Sammy, the Bravia & the Regza. Still have to save up though, kulang pa budget.

. Though mas mababa presyo nya ngayon compared to last year? Is that price right?

Mine is store warranty..only difference is they are the ones to bring to Panasonic so sa kanila ko daw dapat dalhin kung may problem?

I hope that by Q3 or Q4, 3D TVs would be cheaper in order for the masses (like can me) can afford it

CV700. It has PIP and Swivel Stand but everything else I believe is the same

Just to give everyone idea...

Here is the Sights and Sounds 2010 sales break down of FULL HD TV 40 to 42" category:

Samsung 40C530 and 40C550 combined 29% Samsung popularity makes it number 1

Toshiba 40AV700 and 40CV700 combined 24% Toshiba is gaining strength because of loaded features

LG 42LD460 20% (this was due to shortage of stocks and backlight bleeding issue)

Sony 40BX400 and 40EX400 combined 8%

Panasonic 42U20 6%

Other Brand TV including AVision 42AL69 and Istyle 42D1 13%

I'm amazed by the popularity of Samsung, usually when I get a PM, it always starts out with a "Is Samsung XX XXX, a good TV? With PinoyDVD, an individual can finally have more choices.

Being a fan of Toshiba, I'm glad it's getting the attention it rightfully deserves.

If i am not mistaken
both are HD ready. RV 700 is the Full HD model

The 40" of AV and CV series are both Full HDTV.

matagal pa pala mapapalitan yung current line. still torned between upgrading for plasma or better HT gear. ok na sana ako sa tv ko pero nung naglaro ako ng call of duty black ops I can see the ghosting on black shades sa sharp LCD ko kahit sa "game mode". buti pa yung lumang samsung 26" TN panel monitor ko walang ghosting issues for that game. well yun lang naman, pero other "60 fps" games wala naman (e.g. nba, tekken, burnout)
