Thanks to sir Carlo for another useful thread.

Just to give everyone idea...

Here is the Sights and Sounds 2010 sales break down of FULL HD TV 40 to 42" category:

Samsung 40C530 and 40C550 combined 29% Samsung popularity makes it number 1

Toshiba 40AV700 and 40CV700 combined 24% Toshiba is gaining strength because of loaded features

LG 42LD460 20% (this was due to shortage of stocks and backlight bleeding issue)

Sony 40BX400 and 40EX400 combined 8%

Panasonic 42U20 6%

Other Brand TV including AVision 42AL69 and Istyle 42D1 13%

Very interesting.  I thought LG was number 1 for 2010.  Toshiba sales is surprising.

Samsung pa rin pala ang number 1.  But I hear Samsung has bad service now, is it true?

@barrister

Thanks tsip! Anyway, Samsung is still a very popular choice for a lot of people. The results of a very effective marketing program, I guess. Most of the PMs I get about TVs almost always have a Samsung model as a first choice.

PinoyDVD, has given a lot of buyers the idea that there is more to a visual party other the Sony/Samsung parade.

We have a review for the XL700 already! The Samsung in-question, however, hasn't reached my doors but will do so as soon as it arrives.

Thanks.

The Panasonic Plasma U20 is also a good pick for 2011.

Let's wait for the "true" 2011 models to appear ;)

I would get the 42U20.  For a few thou extra (shop around for the best deal and price!), you get a Full HD panel.

To continue our 2010 X-Mas T.V picks, we'll jump to 2011 with our first round of choices:

Toshiba 40AV700 with free AV Link Media Player at P38000.*
PRO: Fully loaded TV: auto signal booster to enhance standard-definition TV reception, 4 HDMI inputs and a USB port; built-in speakers sound reasonably dynamic and dramatic.
Realistic color; deep and insightful black level.
AGAINST: Dark scene reveals a touch of noise at times.
VERDICT: A model with accurate colors and excellent detail attention--plus the bonus of superior connectivity and functionality – Good "all-arounder"!

*Prices and bundles taken from Sights and Sounds. And I'd also like to thank them for giving me the chance to do spot reviews of their T.Vs

Hi Sir, what is this free AV Link Media Player? I saw one at Rob. Mall. Toshiba 40AV700 was offered about P38k + 5K to get the AV Link HT with a sort of amplifier i think (2 tower speakers, 2 front speakers, 1 center and 2 bass) I wonder if they are the same?

@ Sir Vic, You have any bundle for the Toshiba 40av700 right now? TIA! ;D

AV Link media player is an equipment for playing multimedia files that includes the popular matroska HD movie files. Media player also allows you to play and manage audio and video files. Its integrated programs also offer ripping, burning, and visual effects. Examples include: iTunes, Winamp, Musicmatch Jukebox.

The one offered in the Robinson Appliances is AV Link home-theater. This home-theater system consists of an amplifier with 5 surround speakers + 2 passive subwoofer.

There are 2 promos:
1. 40AV700 at P33K. Add P3500. for a AV Link media player.
2. 40AV700 at P38K. Add P3500. for a AV Link media player + add P5K for a AV Link home-theater.  :D

matagal pa pala mapapalitan yung current line. still torned between upgrading for plasma or better HT gear. ok na sana ako sa tv ko pero nung naglaro ako ng call of duty black ops I can see the ghosting on black shades sa sharp LCD ko kahit sa "game mode". buti pa yung lumang samsung 26" TN panel monitor ko walang ghosting issues for that game. well yun lang naman, pero other "60 fps" games wala naman (e.g. nba, tekken, burnout)

TN panel displays typically have better response times (versus other LCD technologies), but have narrower viewing angles (and often produce less accurate colors).

Heard that the 2011 models are fast approaching. We have a lot of screening/reviewing to do, hopefully during the coming break!

Excited about this years offerings:

Sony LED, Panny 3D, more Tosh LCDs? Can the Koren brands win me back? What about new players? Lots of stuff!

Whew!

Better clear them cash and cards :D
