Question for experts.
« on: Jan 28, 2011 at 11:39 AM »
I'm new into buying blueray movies. So far I only have Miami vice, enemy of the state and avatar. The first two, I got locally from odyssey. The avatar is I got from a fellow forum member. The quality of the avatar from the other two movies is way better. I mean way way better. Is it because its imported or the movie Lang? Or maybe the other two titles are old movie na. Like for exmaple salt and inception. I'm thinking of getting it locally since it's out na but if the picture quality of amazon us better then I might as well get from there. But Kung same Lang then ditto nalang. Help?

The picture quality of bluray movies should be the same whatever the region since they all use practically the same source file.

Miami Vice and Enemy of the State should have the same quality as their US counterparts. It all depends on their source files.

Differences in video quality are still just prominent with DVDs if you don't know what you're looking at. Viva budget DVDs, for example, use low-resolution VCDs as their source file.

Region 3 is a DVD specification. What you should look at is the Bluray region. We are Bluray Region A, same as the United States, some parts of Southeast Asia and Japan. If your PS3 says it can play Region A Bluray discs, then you can play only that region.

Here's a map which tells you which countries can play each other's bluray discs:

Hi Dan...

Yung PS3 ba, let's say "Asian Version", pwede din mag play ng R1 games? or pang R3 games lang since "Asian"? Nakakalito kasi yung regioning eh... Thanks.

IIRC PS3 gaming is region-free ex. can play R1 games on an Asian-version PS3, vice-versa.

Ok.. got it. So since it's Asian, region-free sa gaming, pero Region A sa Bluray.... right? Thanks!  :)

Yup, PS3 gaming is region-free (DLC should depend on the game region IIRC) ..... BD movie viewing is region-dependent though.

regardless of title as long as same batch ng pagkaka digitally restored into BD same lang ang picture quality except if the movie studio specify that the BD new release of an old movie title were again re process for a special edition  BD release title mas maganda ang picture nun. And as long as same source ang pinang galingan it should be the same kahit anong region pa yan. :)
