Suggestion lang sir:
Listen to different gear muna, to help you define the sound that you like and to give you an idea of how much it'd cost per part (kung high-end, mid-level, entry-level, etc.). Saka ka magset ng budget.

Mahirap kasi kung magrely ka sa opinion namin, tapos di mo naman pala gusto in the end diba?

Just my tuppence worth.

Just a suggestion:

Start from a good 2.1 setup. Get it in following order.

1. Entry level Receiver
2. Bookshelf and a sub.
3. Center
4. Surrounds

if it's for home theater, wouldn't it be better to go for Center first, kesa Sub?

Most receivers don't allow setting the Front  L/R speakers as none, so you'd lose audio material if you don't have them. However, most can run with no center (phantom center) by routing the center channel audio to the L/R speaks.

I hope this helps.

let me clarify that.  what i meant was, instead of getting L,R and Sub, get L, Center and R first.

i've been hearing kase na phantom center is not advisable, lalo na if yung nanonood is not directly in the middle of the speakers.

Thanks for clarifying. I agree that a phantom center is far from ideal (especially for more than 1 viewer).

However, a sub is equally important kung maliit yung Front L/R speakers... so depende na din sa actual implementation nung T/S. Just my opinion...

Kaya ko inuna sa listahan ung L/R and sub, dahil kung L/R/C ang uunahin mo, im sure wala pang 1 week bibili ka na ng sub hehe! You'll be missing a lot not having a SUB than not having a CENTER. Frequencies channeled to the CENTER can be channeled decently through the L/R. But you cannot channel the LOWS through the L/R/C if they are not big enough. And I tell you, big driver Fronts are relatively expensive  ;D

.1 este +1  :)

HANYEP! parang may sub.  :o

amigos, I strongly suggest you audition Titus. with its 8" driver para ka nang may 8" sub. imagine 18k for a floorstander  ::) saan ka pa?

with Titus FS, di po sya tunog utot.  ;D

FS lang e.maybe Anthony can tell us or others who auditioned it. pero sa laki ng Titus BS sa palagay ko malakas din yun. iba talaga ang bigger driver. kung wala lang akong ibang priority kukuha ako ng isang set. panalo talaga!  ;)

Kahit anong FS pa yan bale wala din if you set your receiver's LFE settings too high. Set it really low if you don't have a sub yet so the receiver will not re-route all LF materials to the LFE output.
