Author Topic: Bluray players with USB MKV NTFS capabilities (Read 12276 times)

Please help me on issues that some bluray players has capabilities of playing movie files in NTFS format, MKV or bigger files thru USB so that I could say these are more or less similar to media players on the market in playing external HDD. I am thinking of acquiring one so I have a unit that plays bluray disc and also HDD via USB. Kindly comment on this please. Thanks

LG BD550 can play them however it's not as versatile as the NMT players. With firmware updates some of the NMT's can now play MKV files with header compression.

Some friends say the Phillips BD2700 is also capable but please, for the owners of this unit, kindly confirm if really they play NTFS files. Many are playing FAT32 so kindly comment on this. I would also say the LG BD390 could perform better but the unit is so rarely available. Thanks

eisa award yata yang lgbd390.meron syang 7.1 channel output unfortunately saka discontinued item na sya sir.yung brother who is based in dubai is also looking for this particular player pero wala na talaga.

Sir Jhelenz, pls ask your brother in Dubai if there is a newer model of this LG BD390 as I understand that this is a 2009 model. there might be a 2010 model that replaces this, since as you said, this is already a discontinued model. If no model that replaces this, why would they discontinue. Also recently, I have a feedback that the LG BD560 and 565 are also capable to play NTFS MKV. On this issue, you might have some contacts that have these models. Please fedd back, thanks

that lg bd390 was the only player i was interested dahil meron syang 7.1 analog channel output.baka kasi meron pa stocks yung mga store dun.yung mga ,ga bd player dun halos kapresyo lang din dito sa pinas kaya di na ko nagbother magpahanap ng ibang bd player para gamitin dito.

i downloadad an mkv "Gospel of Judas", saved it in my isb flash and it played on my LG BD370

Yes, LG BD370 is also one of them, according to the internet. Nowthat you've confirmed it reads MKV from that Usb, kindly try using a HDD, NTFS format just so to see if it will really play these things. By then, you are lucky to have a bluray player and at the same time a media player. Definitely, I love to have one when there is available. Thanks

I believe a PS3 with custom firmware can do this.

OK try ko this weekend. may extra (old) 20GB HDD ako. paano ba ma-format to NTFS? lagi ko lang gawa, right-click then format

FAT 32 files are limited to about 4 gb while NTFS format files are bigger in size, much bigger than FAT 32. Usually, Bluray rip files are about 8 to 18 or much bigger gb in size. If your player plays even a 6gb file then it reads NTFS files

I just bought an LG HB905SA and it can play MKV files on its USB port. It supports NTFS and FAT32 of up to 4 TB according to the manual, but only tested a 2 TB so far and it worked flawlessly.

I 'm on the lookout for a BD player which can double-up as a media player. Given the choices between the LG BD550, Samsung BD- C5500 and C6500 what would be the best buy?

Actually bought the unit here in Dubai last January during the Shopping Festival. Cost me a total of 1299 AED which is almost equal to 15400 PHP.

AFAIK, locally bought BDs are the same region as US so it should play.

Haven't really checked. Most of the MKVs I have are Dolby and DTS encoded...
