A transformer is a better choice,...

Same question din po, If I plug an Auto volt LCD TV to a 220 t0 110 Step down transformer will it also protect the TV from Voltage fluctuations?

im not an expert.. but iba po intindi ko...

sa intindi ko tranformer is just to transform voltage from 220v to 110v... no voltage regulating is done...

a servo AVR has voltage regulation... and... most of them come with both 220v and 110v output...
AVR is short for automatic voltage regulator...

knock on wood but... we have been using AVRs since i can remember.. so... our televisions do last for decades... dati hindi naman uso lcd/led 1080p ek ek.. we do not upgrade tv.. for such a long long time... hehe...

ang madali masira samin is fridge hehe kahit ine-AVR din namin lahat

I've been using one of those cheapo avr's from the pc store for three years now, so far no problems yet. Maybe the voltage is more stable in my area, we've never used avr's for the crt's, fridge or aircons as long as I can remember, so far no problems.

I have been using an AVR for our AV connections. Its just an extra measure of safety, in case of power fluctuations. I think it wouldn't hurt having one connected to the tv.

slightly OT:

one of my espresso machines (full automatic type, programmable) went to the coffee machines repair shop.. a transistor got busted and replaced.. the veteran technician advised me to use AVR to lessen possibility of cooked transistor due to AC voltage spike.. good thing i have 2 extra AVRs (both rated at 3000 watts, servo-controlled type) at home.. one will be hooked on this espresso machine from now on  ;)

gamit ko sa 32 ko yung omega na avr, nabili ko yun ng 500 pesos dati pa... tapos bibili din ako ng panther na extension. yung extension nila may fuse din kaya maganda..
